Mount Olympus Ascent - Greece
By: Harold Webb, Carnforth, Lancashire
I was very impressed with guest house accommodation and tavernas chosen by our guide. The trekking refuges had limited menu, as would be expected, but quality of food excellent. Andreas, our trip leader, was an excellent guide with very good command of the English language. His local knowledge and leadership qualities were very good indeed. Even before the end of the trip we were very good friends and our last drink together actually made us quite sad to be parting. Would both thoroughly recommend him and be happy to use him again. He was obviously well respected by the guest house staff and well liked by the refuge managers. This trip was carefully chosen and based upon many years of trekking and previous trips with KE. It lived up to all expectations helped by excellent weather and the itinerary provided was exactly what we'd hoped for and the grading as expected. Unfortunately I experienced a bit of difficulty as a result of a bug probably caught on the flight out which resulted in one day being aborted but this was not the fault of KE or our accommodation. It fortunately did not spoil the entire trip. To improve this trip would probably be difficult. Conversely it would important to maintain the existing guest house, itinerary and most importantly the guide to ensure the high standard is maintained. This was our third trip with KE (previously Toubkal and Picos) so based on previous experience we were happy to book again.
