One-week Mount Toubkal Trek

Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in Marrakech. Complimentary airport transfers are provided for clients arriving on this day. Depending on your arrival time you may have time to explore the old souk and streets of Marrakech. KE Land Only services begin with the evening meal.
Day 2: We drive to Oukaimeden in the foothills of the Atlas where after a picnic lunch our trekking starts. A steady climb takes us up to the Tiz N`Aaadi (2980m.) before a picturesque descent to our camp in the village of Foussarou. With views across to the Berber village of Tacheddirt we settle down for our first night under canvas (2500m). Walk distance approx; 4-5hrs, 12km, ascent 630m & descent 800m
Day 3: Today's long climb through ever changing landscapes rewards us with spectacular views before reaching Tizi-n-Likemt (3550m). Our trekking afternoon follows an Atlas assif (stream) through narrow gorges before the valley opens up to a high meadow and Tinzartto our camp below the col of Tizi n'Ourai (approx 3000m). Walk distance approx; 8hrs, 17.5km, 1990m ascent & 1425m descent.
Day 4: A short climb to the pass of Tizi-n-Ourai (3109m) and our first glimpse of Toubkal dominating the landscape. We then climb through green valleys before descending to the Berber village of Amsouzart. (1740m). A high afternoon traverse to the largest lake in the central Atlas leads to our camp at the turquoise Lac d'Ifni (2295m). Walk distance approx; 8hrs, 20km, 1095m ascent and 1760m descent.
Day 5: After leaving camp the trekking is tough but unforgettable as we start a long climb to cross one of the most spectacular mountain passes in the Atlas - The Tizi-n-Ouanoums (3650m). Situated between two peaks - Toubkal and Ouanoukrim our steep afternoon descent ends at the Neltner Refuge (3207m) in its secluded location. Walk distance approx; 6-7hrs, 9km, ascent 1510m ascent & 665m descent.
Day 6: Our early start heads steeply up above the refuge zig-zagging across scree and boulders before reaching the summit of Jebel Toubkal (4167m) - North Africa's highest peak. After pausing for panoramic views and a "summit shot," our long descent leads to our gite in Ait Souka - a welcome end after a long trekking day. Walk distance approx; 12-14hrs, 21.5km, ascent 1585m & 2895m descent
Day 7: Today starts with a short walk down to Imlil where we meet our transport for the drive back to Marrakech. Our afternoon of sightseeing is led by an English speaking local guide and focused around the Djemaa-el-Fna including the famous labyrinth of souks. After some free time in the afternoon we rendezvous for an evening of Moroccan hospitality.
Day 8: KE Land Only services end after breakfast. Complimentary airport transfers are provided for clients departing on this day.
This holiday involves going to high altitude. During the course of your trip you will reach altitudes in excess of 3500 metres. This is not something that you should worry about; the human body is quite capable of adapting to a very wide range of altitudes, but it is important that we follow some simple rules in order to acclimatise successfully. Before coming on this holiday you should read the advice on trekking at high altitude.
