Oman Walks and Wadis

Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in Muscat. A single group transfer will be provided from Muscat Airport. KE Land Only package services begin with overnight at the group hotel.
Day 2: In the morning we will enjoy a sightseeing tour of Muscat, to include the Grand Mosque, the fish market, the souq and a 2 hour walk along the coast overlooking the port of Muscat. After lunch we will drive out of the city and set up our first wild camp. Approximately 2 - 3 hours walking. Overnight camp.
Day 3: Leaving camp in our 4x4 vehicles, we drive to Nakhal where we stop off to view the fort before continuing off-road to Wadi Bani Auf. Stopping en route, we take a short walk through a small gorge into the beautiful mountain village of Bilad Sait. After lunch we drive into the mountains and up to the Jebel Shams plateau to set up our camp at around 2000m. Approximately 2 - 3 hours walking.
Day 4: Today we walk the 'Balcony Trail' along the edge of Oman's 'Grand Canyon', tracing our steps on the return journey while taking time to enjoy the stunning views into the canyon. After lunch we drive to Wadi Tanuf and then on to Jebel Akhdar for our next wild camp at 2000m. Approximately 5 hours walking.
Day 5: An early start for our 3 hour trek across Oman's beautiful green mountain, Jebel Akhdar. The walk starts at Jariria, and we'll stop off for a picnic lunch under the walnut trees at Bani Habib. After lunch we'll walk through terraces and farms on the side of the mountain to return to our camp. Approximately 4 hours walking.
Day 6: Today we follow a trail down to an abandoned village where we take lunch. After ascending again, we meet our vehicles for the drive to Nizwa, Oman's former capital noted for its 17th century fort and atmospheric souqs full of silversmiths. Dinner will be in a local Arabic restaurant and overnight accommodation will be in a hotel. Approximately 5 hours walking.
Day 7: In the morning we will explore the historical city of Nizwa , and enjoy the birds-eye views from the fort, there is one hour where all shops and restaurants close for prayer and will open at one, we travel out of Nizwa during this time to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Travelling onwards to the edge of the desert, we drive across tracks to reach Wahiba Sands and make camp amongst the dunes.
Day 8: Waking to the ever changing colours of the desert, we break camp this morning and take a 15 minute drive to begin our walk across Wadi Bani Khalid. Following ancient trails we enjoy the shade of the palms and serentiy of wadi pools in the rocky wonderland, before rejoining our vehicles for a short drive to coastal campsite close to the port of Sur.
Day 9: Taking a sea-view breakfast, we walk to one of the wonders of Oman, Wadi Shab. Following the `explorers entrance` the gorgeous emerald green pools of Wadi Shab are a hidden paradise for us to enjoy. With time to cool off with an optional swim after our walk, we head back to Muscat, were KE land only services end with a single timed transfer to the airport.
