Day 1: Meet at the group hotel in El Calafate. A single timed airport transfer in included. El Calafate is a pretty town and a relaxing place to stretch your legs and explore. A good place to start is the main street of Av del Libertador General San Martin, simply known as Libertador. KE group package services begins with the hotel accommodation.
Day 2: After breakfast we depart El Calafate towards the Chile/Argentina border before heading towards Torres del Paine National Park. The transfer (4 - 5 hours) passes some of the most spectacular and constantly changing scenery on the planet. Our accommodation tonight is the superbly located Las Torres Ecocamp. Fantastically located, after check-in we can enjoy a local `pisco sour` before dinner.
Day 3: Today a stunning drive (2 hours) sees us make our way towards the awesome Lago Grey, famed for its floating icebergs. Walking out on the Grey Peninsula ensures fantastic views over the glacier and we are rewarded with our first views of the impressive Paine Mastiff. In the late afternoon we take a catamaran ride on Lake Pehoe before transfering to Pehoe camp, where we overnight.
Day 4: A couple of hours walking leads us to the impressive and surreal Grey Glacier, one of the highlights of the trip and a photographers paradise, a land where giant icebergs drift across still waters. Today we have excellent views of the icefield and one option is to continue on foot to the base of the glacier for the most outstanding views of the day. We return back to Pehoe Camp.
Day 5: Today we trek northwards towards `Campamento Italiano` the Italian Camp in the Valle del Frances. We have the opportunity to follow the upper section of the River Frances to a fantastic viewpoint overlooking Glacier Frances. After admiring the views, we descend to Refugio Los Cuernos, beside the picturesque Lake Nordenskjold, where we spend the night.
Day 6: This day follows one of the most spectacular trails in the park the `Paso Los Cuernos` which leads us beneath the Cuernos (horns) of the awesome Paine Massif. During the day we are rewarded with great views of Lake Nordenskjold, famed for its wonderful colours and in the afternoon we make a welcoming return to the Ecocamp in time to enjoy an aperitif before dinner!
Day 7: A long but spectacular day's trekking and a trip highlight which takes us to a spectacular viewpoint at the base of the granite spires of the Paine Towers. Close to 3000m, these beautiful peaks are majestic and weather permitting, the sight of them reflected in the lake below is unforgettable. We return to Las Torres Ecocamp for a delicious dinner and our final night in the national park.
Day 8: Today we leave Torres Del Paine National Park and drive to the Argentinean border at Cerro Castillo, before continuing on to El Calafate. After checking in to our hotel we visit the impressive Perito Moreno Glacier, located in the Los Glaciares National Park. We return back to El Calafate where we overnight after enjoying dinner in a local restaurant.
Day 9: Today we leave El Calafate and transfer (3 hours) to the village of El Chalten where we are centre-based for the next 3 nights in a local and traditional hosteria. In the afternoon we hike alongside the Rio Electrico to Piedra Del Fraile as our trail takes us through a beautiful valley of lenga (beech) trees, where we may spot parakeets and woodpeckers. We return to our hosteria in El Chalten.
Day 10: After a short transfer (40mins) we begin our trek to a spectacular Cerro Fitzroy mountain look out point, overlooking the cobalt-blue Laguna de Los Tres, where we are rewarded with stunning views of the east face of Fitz Roy. After reaching Camp Poincenot, and spending time admiring the views, we take a beautiful forest trail leading us back to our hosteria in El Chalten for our second night.
Day 11: A superb day to finish off our our exploration of Fitz Roy as we trek in the valley of the Rio Fitz Roy. By following the river we reach Laguna Torre, the best viewpoint for the rock pinnacle of Cerro Torre, a beautiful mountain located in the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. We return on a gradually descending path, via the lakes of Madre and Hija to El Chalten for our final night there .
Day 12: This morning we have a relaxing start before our drive back to El Calafate. After checking-in at the group hotel, we'll have time to wander around the variety of souvenir shops, chocolate stores and coffee shops before re-grouping in the evening.
Day 13: KE Land Only services end after breakfast in El Calafate. A single timed airport transfer from the group hotel is included.
