Pokhara to Kathmandu - Nepal Mountain Bike
Holiday Itinerary
Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel. Complimentary airport transfer provided. KE Land Only package services begin with the evening meal.
Day 2: Our still packed bikes travel overland to Pokhara, whilst we enjoy a tour of Kathmandu visiting sacred Buddhist and Hindu sites, followed by dinner in one of favourite restaurants.
Day 3: After breakfast we take the short flight along the Himalaya to Pokhara. Here in the warmth of this idyllic location we assemble our bikes and take an afternoon ride to Phewa Lake.
Day 4: Today we make a circuit ride up and around Sarangkot hill which provides a magnificent panorama of the Annapurna range. A long descent return to Pokhara and chilled beer !
Day 5: Leaving Pokhara we tackle the 'Khali Horseshoe', including an awesome descent through the village of Hot Chilli to our lakeside camp at Begnas Tal.
Day 6: Our ride today is 'Dawn to Dusk'. Initially ascending we follow a wild section of singletrack to the Modi Khola, which we cross at Sisaghat and continue by jeep road to our camp on the east side of the river at Kalasti.
Day 7: It gets even better as we tackle 'Ridge Riders'. Ascending through the 'jungle highway' we pass through unspoiled ridge-top villages, then a major downhill blast to camp.
Day 8: 'Sunset Boulevard' initially follows the Annapurna circuit before we turn off and take a maze of footpaths and an exciting ride ensues. A final road climb leads us to Gorkha and our lodge.
Day 9: Today is free to explore this ancient capital of Nepal and the views from the old Royal Palace are amazing. But, if you want we can do an afternoon's circuit ride around Gorkha.
Day 10: The 'Corker from Gorkha' is possibly the best ride of the whole trip, as we descend to the Buri Gandaki, then take an exciting new route alongside the tributary Ankhu Khola, following challenging tracks and trails, to a camp beyond Kali Sundhara Bazaar.
Day 11: Heading east through villages well off the beaten track, we have a fair amount of up and down on singletrack and rough jeep road. Eventually, we reach our camp close to Trisuli Bazaar.
Day 12: Today, we tackle to the long, but steady road climb up to the Kathmandu Valley rim - a 'Vertical Mile' involving 1600 metres (5250 feet) of ascent. After lunch at Kakani, we descend through the Royal Nagarjun Forest to Kathmandu and our hotel.
Day 13: KE Land Only package services end after breakfast. Complimentary airport transfer provided.
