Patagonia & Argentina & Chile, Trek & Walk, 11 days - from £2,095 (land only) - from €2,935 (land only) - from $3,380 (land only)
Day 1: Meet at group hotel in El Calafate. A single timed airport transfer is provided. The remainder of the day is free to rest and relax after a long flight. El Calafate is a laid-back place to explore with souvenir shops, chocolate shops, restaurants and coffee shops to enjoy. KE Land Only services begin with the overnight at the group hotel.
Day 2: This morning we transfer by public bus to the Chile/Argentina border before continuing onto either Cerro Castillo or Puerto Natales. There will be a lunch stop during the journey or, depending on time it may be taken on arrival at the Eco Camp. The journey onwards to the UNESCO Torres del Paine National Park will be a private transfer passing spectacular scenery. Check-in at the EcoCamp.
Day 3: After setting out from the spectacular EcoCamp, we have a long but fantastic day of trekking to Lago Dickson. The first trekking day may appear long, but gives a perfect indication of the length of day needed for going over the John Garner Pass two days later. Today we follow the eastern bank of the Rio Paine before arriving at our camp at Refugio Dickson, with a small cafe and hot showers!
Day 4: This is the wildest and least accessible section of the trek, following the Los Perros `the dogs` River. We'll trek through forest of southern beech and may be lucky to spot Magellanic woodpeckers and parakeets. Before we arrive at our camp we pass close to Laguna Los Perros, where icebergs float directly into the lake.
Day 5: Today is an exciting Paine Circuit highlight and tougher day as we cross the world famous John Garner Pass (1200m). This spectacular pass offers amazing views on a clear day which stretch across to the South Patagonian Ice-Cap. We descend to the shores of the impressive Lago Grey where we can view the awesome glacier and its spectacular icebergs. Tonight we overnight at Camp Grey.
Day 6: The morning is spent trekking alongside Grey Glacier, the views complete with floating icebergs are unforgettable. The afternoon sees us trek with the Cerro Paine Grande in view as we walk along the shores of Lago Pehoe. Although we camp here, we can enjoy the refuge's facilities which include a bar and hot showers, plus we get access to our baggage that we split at the beginning of the trek.
Day 7: After leaving camp we trek north passing small lakes, light forest and mixed grassland. Following the River Frances we arrive at Camp Italiano in the Frances Valley and, weather permitting we continue to a hut built for a British climbing expedition which offers the best views of the Cuernos del Paine. After enjoying the views, we then descend to Camp Cuernos beside Lake Nordenskjold.
Day 8: To officially complete the circuit on foot, we trek eastwards for around 5 hours on a good, scenic trail on the north side of Lake Nordenskjold. Today offers beautiful views across the lakes and towards the Towers of Paine. Our trekking days ends as the welcoming EcoCamp Patagonia, where after checking-in, we'll enjoy an aperitif before a delicious dinner.
Day 9: Today we walk to the head of the Ascencio Valley, where we are rewarded with a breath-taking view of the Paine towers. This viewpoint is extremely special and well worth the effort, as the towers are reflected in the lake below. If you prefer to spend the day relaxing at the EcoCamp, todays walk is optional. We return to EcoCamp Patagonia for a final night in Torres Del Paine National Park.
Day 10: After leaving the Torres del Paine region we enjoy a dramatic drive across Chile, before re-crossing into Argentina at Cerro Castillo. We then continue onto El Calafate, where we check into the group hotel. After checking-in and freshening up, we will head out into the town for our final evening.
Day 11: KE Land Only services end after breakfast. A single timed airport transfer is included.
