Descending through a valley of pistachio and oak trees we arrive at the peaceful beach of L`marssa where we have time to swim. Reboarding our private transport we head for the whitewashed UNESCO medina of Tetouan with superb Moorish architecture and Rif Mountain views.
Day 3: Departing from our gite on foot, we head into the lush natural park of Talassemtane. Today we pass traditional villages before heading for the `Grand Arch` which rewards us with splendid views of canyons and green valleys. After lunch on the beach and a relaxing swim, we transfer to Al-Hoceima National Park where we will stay for two nights in a simple gite. Walk distance approx; 3 hours.
Day 4: Today we magically weave our way through picturesque gorges that lead us to the small bay of Taoussarte. With time to relax and take a swim, we may also see local fisherman going about their daily business. Our trail takes us through the Berber village of Hadi Rouadi famed for its local handicrafts. We transfer back to our gite accommodation. Walk distance approx; 3 hours.
Day 5: Today our walk heads for the the windmills and tower of Torres de Alcala where it is still possible to see the camel caravan trail that leads directly to Fes. In the afternoon we drive over the spectacular Tidihine Rif Mountain Pass (2445m) before descending into Talassemente National Park and our accommodation on the fringes of the park. Walk distance approx; 3 - 4 hours.
Day 6: Today sees us hike through several less-visited villages as we wind our way up to a superb viewpoint of Chefchaouen. Described as the prettiest town in Morocco, the picturesque powder-blue buildings and medina charm make for a great afternoon of exploration. Slowly wandering through backstreets is the only way to explore this beautiful mountain town. We drive to Teyenza for our overnight.
Day 7: Before arriving into the Atlantic fortified town of Asilah, we enjoy a walk through Rif forests of cork and oak trees in search of the cheeky Magot Monkey. Asilah is known for its narrow whitewashed streets and fortified ramparts, whilst the streets are alive with local artisans and musicians. Continuing northwards we return to Tangier for our final night.
