Rocky Mountains and the Grand Canyon

Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in Jackson Wyoming. KE Land Only package services begin with the overnight stay at the group hotel.
Day 2: After breakfast we meet our guide who will give us an introductory briefing. We have a morning's hike beneath Grand Teton, to Leigh Lake, before driving to Tower Junction in Yellowstone. Overnight Cooke City. 4 to 5 hours hiking, 2 hours driving.
Day 3: We hike to the top of Mount Washburn and along the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone for amazing views. Afterwards, we return to our accommodation in Cooke City. 5 to 6 hours of hiking, 2 hours driving.
Day 4: We explore the area around Old Faithful where we walk on boardwalks amongst geothermal pools and past herds of wild bison. Evening wolf spotting in the Lamar Valley. 5 to 6 hours hiking, 3 to 4 hours driving.
Day 5: Today we drive south into the heart of Colorado's Rockies, across the Great American Desert. Arriving in the town of Steamboat, we check in at our comfortable hotel. 8 hours driving.
Day 6: In the morning we hike the Fish Creek Falls Trail. In the early afternoon we transfer to Snowmass, close to Aspen where we check in at a comfortable hotel. There will be time to take the short transfer to Aspen and stroll around this famous resort town before evening falls. 5 hours hiking, 3 to 4 hours driving.
Day 7: After a short transfer, we make one of Colorado's most scenic hikes, the 'Lost Man Loop' which crosses a steep pass above the tree-line and descends past pretty lakes and rich forest. At the end of the hike we return to Aspen/Snowmass. 7 hours hiking.
Day 8: This morning we have a shorter hike to a viewpoint beneath the stunning peaks of the Maroon Bells, which are reflected in alpine lakes. The afternoon is free to enjoy the town, window shopping at the boutiques or taking the gondola to Aspen Peak. 4 hours hiking.
Day 9: Leaving Aspen, we drive the famous Million Dollar Highway, considered to be one of the most scenic highways in North America. We follow remote mountain roads through the heart of the Rockies to reach Mesa Verde where we check in to our hotel. 5 to 6 hours driving.
Day 10: This morning we explore Mesa Verde, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with a ranger-led walk. In the afternoon, we transfer to Monument Valley where we have a jeep tour led by Navajo Indians. Tonight we camp with the Indians and share a meal with them. 3 hours driving.
Day 11: We continue through the Painted Desert to the Grand Canyon. We take a leisurely hike along the West Rim of the canyon, enjoying incredible views far away from the crowds. Overnight hotel Tusayan/Grand Canyon.
Day 12: A highlight of the holiday is the descent of the Grand Canyon to the famous turquoise waterfalls of Havasupai. After around 5 hours we reach the remote Indian village of Supai and we then have another half hour to our camp in an oasis in the canyon. 5 to 6 hours hiking.
Day 13: We have a full day at leisure to enjoy the waterfalls and scenery. You can choose to hike to the Indian village or bathe in the refreshing waterfalls.
Day 14: After an early start, we hike out of the canyon, aiming to reach the canyon rim before noon. We then drive to Las Vegas, where we enjoy a shower and the comforts of a hotel. 5 to 6 hours hiking, 3 to 4 hours driving.
Day 15: KE Land Only package services end with breakfast at the hotel. The hotel provides a free shuttle service to the airport.
This holiday involves going to high altitude. During the course of your trip you will reach altitudes in excess of 3500 metres. This is not something that you should worry about; the human body is quite capable of adapting to a very wide range of altitudes, but it is important that we follow some simple rules in order to acclimatise successfully.
