Holiday Itinerary
Day 1: Rendezvous at group hotel in Sinaia. KE Land Only package services begin with a single timed group transfer from Bucharest Otopeni Airport to the group hotel in Sinaia.
Day 2: Morning visit to the Peles Palace. We then take a cable car and hike to the top of Mount Omu, the high point of the Bucegi Plateau. Overnight in a mountain lodge (2507m/8219ft).
Day 3: A tough and steep descent down to Bran and 'Castle Dracula', then we have some time to explore the medieval city of Brasov.
Day 4: Hike in the Fagaras Mountains from Balea Lake to the Podragu Hut. Classic hill walking at its best.
Day 5: We trek from Pordragu Hut to Sambata Hut, via the high point of our route on top of Moldoveanu Peak (2545m/8347ft).
Day 6: Descend to Sambata Monastery and transfer to Zarnesti. A horse and cart takes us into the spectacular Piatra Craiului area where we enjoy a barbecue and Romanian sing song.
Day 7: Our final day's hiking is spent in the Piatra Craiului National Park. Options abound with various levels of walk. Return to Zanesti.
Day 8: KE Land Only package services end after breakfast with a single timed group transfer to Bucharest Otopeni Airport incorporating a visit to the Village Museum en route if time allows.
Altitude
This holiday involves going to moderately high altitude. During the course of your trip you will reach altitudes in excess of 2500 metres. Most people will have no difficulty with this level of altitude but before coming on the holiday, we recommend you read the advice on trekking at altitude.
