Reunion - Paradise Island Trekking

Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in St Gilles. A single group transfer from the airport is provided in the morning. KE Land Only package services begin with overnight at the group hotel.
Day 2: Today, we transfer to the ridge between Salazie and Mafate and trek via the Col de Fourche into the lovely, forested Mafate Valley. We overnight at a refuge in the village of La Nouvelle.
Day 3: Still in the Mafate Valley, we trek by way of the Plaine aux Sables (in an old crater) to the riverside beauty spot of Trois Roches. Then, it's uphill through a rocky canyon to the refuge at Marla.
Day 4: Today, we trek up to the Col du Taibit (2200m) and cross into the Cilaos Cirque. Descend via a picnic lunch at the deserted village of Les Salazes to Cilaos, where we stay in a hotel.
Day 5: We spend a free day in Cilaos, with the option to relax, or do some independent exploration on foot or by mountain bike. There are hot springs here, too.
Day 6: After an easy morning, we will set off on our 2-day approach to the island's high point at Piton des Neiges. Today, we hike through forest for 3 hours to the refuge at Coteau Kerveguen.
Day 7: A pre-dawn start for the hike to the top of Piton des Neiges (3070m). After enjoying sunrise at the summit, we descend and follow the Cap Anglais ridge to the refuge at Bebour.
Day 8: Today's forest walk includes the chance to spot lots colourful bird species and there are also waterfall views at the ridge overlooking the Trou de Fer. Afternoon transfer to the Volcano Refuge.
Day 9: Trek to the summit of the active volcano (Piton de la Fournaise) and hike around its crater. In the afternoon, we drive back to St. Gilles and check in to the group hotel.
Day 10: A day for rest and relaxation at this pretty coastal resort. Spend the day on the beach or find alternative amusement. A helicopter flight over the island can be arranged here.
Day 11: KE Land Only package services end with breakfast at the group hotel. A single group transfer to St. Denis Airport is provided in the afternoon.
This holiday involves going to moderately high altitude. During the course of your trip you will reach altitudes in excess of 2500 metres. Most people will have no difficulty with this level of altitude but before coming on the holiday, we recommend you read the advice on trekking at altitude.
