Simply Serengeti - The Classic Safari
Tanzania & Tanzania, Wildlife & Safari, 7 days - from £1,695 (land only) - from €2,120 (land only) - from $2,795 (land only)
Day 1: Arrive into Kilimanjaro airport. Complementary transfers are provided for clients arriving today. KE Land Only services begin at the hotel.
Day 2: It is only a two hour drive into the depths of the Rift Valley before we reach Lake Manyara National Park. Lake Manyara NP offers the perfect introduction to the best of African wildlife. If we're lucky enough we may catch sight of Lake Manyara's tree climbing lions.
Day 3: The Ngorongoro Crater is a unique environment where wildlife has flourished. As we approach the crater rim, there is ample opportunity to view this spectacular depression, from afar. As we descend over the crater rim, we hope to spot a pride of lions or even an elusive leopard. Leaving the crater we drive onwards to our Serengeti camp.
Day 4: Stretching over 15,000 sq km, the endless plains of the Serengeti continue to be a proven favourite. Over the next two days, we will embark on a series of game drives to explore this most famous of African National Parks. Big cats thrive in the Serengeti and with a healthy lion population there should be ample opportunity to encounter the 'King of Cats' and their young prides.
Day 5: The timings of your game drives will depend on conditions, but there will be plenty of time to seek out the hunter and the hunted during the course of the day. Although built for speed, it is common to spot families of Cheetah's lounging atop of a kopje (granite mound) and for the eagle-eyed viewer, pythons have also been known to lurk hidden in the cracks of a Kopje too!
Day 6: Breaking camp this morning we retrace our tracks through the Serengeti, over the crater rim and head for Tarengire National Park. With it's distinct welcome of African Baobab trees, we may be lucky enough to encounter herds of elephant dig and scratch their way through the dry riverbed in search of water.
Day 7: Absorbing the last of our classic African vistas, we depart Tarengire and make our way to Arusha, passing many of the termite mounds that dot the landscape. We will have to clean up at our hotel before we transfer to the airport late in the afternoon where KE land only package services end.
