Singalila Ridge - One of India's Finest Treks
Holiday Itinerary
Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel. Complimentary airport transfers are provided. KE Land Only package services begin with lunch after which there is an optional sightseeing tour of the city.
Day 2: Transfer to the domestic terminal for the onward flight to Bagdogra. We then drive to Darjeeling (2500m / 8200ft) and check in to our hotel.
Day 3: We have a full day to explore Darjeeling. Options include visits to the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, a tea plantation or a ride on the narrow gauge railway.
Day 4: We drive to Dhodray and begin our trek through rhododendron forest towards the crest of the Singalila Ridge. Our camp at Tonglu (2900m / 9514ft) offers good views of Kangchenjunga.
Day 5: Now on the ridge, our days involve less ascent. Today we trek, via a tea stop at the Nepalese village of Jaubari, to our second night's camp at Kalpokhari.
Day 6: A short morning's walk to the ridge-top settlement of Sandakphu (3636m / 11,930ft), where we set up camp and have the afternoon free to relax and enjoy the panoramic views.
Day 7: After watching the sun rise over Kangchenjunga and the distant Everest group, today we hike along the broad ridge-top to our next camp at Sabargram (3425m / 11,237ft).
Day 8: We trek northwards to the high point of the ridge at 'Singalila Peak' (3685m / 12,090ft) for the best views of Kangchenjunga. Returning to Phalut, we drop down off the ridge to Samadeen Village.
Day 9: Our final day of trekking through rich farmland, takes us to Ramman and onwards to the large village of Rimbik, where we overnight in a lodge.
Day 10: After saying goodby to most of our crew, we set off on the fascinating drive across country to our hotel in the major bazaar town of Kalimpong.
Day 11: A free day in Kalimpong, which is an important bazaar town for traders from as far afield as Tibet and Bhutan. We spend a second night at our hotel in the town.
Day 12: Drive back to Bagdogra and fly to Delhi. where we transfer to our hotel.
Day 13: KE land only package services end after breakfast. Airport transfers are provided on this day.
