One Week Haute Route - Mnt Blanc to the Matterhorn
Day 1: Rendezvous at the group's chalet in Argentiere in the Chamonix Valley. KE Land Only package services begin with dinner and overnight at the chalet.
Day 2: A cable car from Le Tour, then a short walk leads to the Albert Premier Hut (2702m / 8665ft) where we can practice our snow and ice skills. Overnight at the hut.
Day 3: Cross into Switzerland via the Col Superior du Tour (3289m / 10,791ft). Descend to the Cabane d'Orny and take the cable car down to Champex. Overnight in dormitory accommodation.
Day 4: We use local taxis to transfer to Mauvoisin. From here we ascend to cross the Col Tsofeiret (2642m / 8668ft) and descend to overnight at the Chanrion Hut.
Day 5: Our route today ascends the Otemma Glacier, which runs through the heart of the Valais Alps. We enjoy a long and easy-angled ascent, amongst spectacular mountain scenery, to the Vignettes Hut.
Day 6: Cross the Col de L'Eveque (3392m / 11,129ft), descend the Haute Glacier Arolla and climb to reach the Bertol Glacier and our overnight stop at the Bertol Hut.
Day 7: Depending on conditions ascend the Tete Blanche (3724m / 12,218ft) for views of the north face of the Matterhorn. Then descend the Stockji Glacier to Zermatt. Hotel in Zermatt.
Day 8: KE Land Only package services end with breakfast.
This holiday involves going to high altitude. During the course of your trip you will reach altitudes in excess of 3500 metres. This is not something that you should worry about; the human body is quite capable of adapting to a very wide range of altitudes, but it is important that we follow some simple rules in order to acclimatise successfully.
