School Adventure - Dead Sea, Wadi Rum & Petra
Jordan, School Expeditions, 8 days - from £995 (land only) - from €1,245 (land only) - from $1,740 (land only)
Day 1: Arriving at Amman Airport in the evening, we meet a representative of our local agent and transfer to our hotel in nearby Madaba.
Day 2: Today, we have a guided tour in a private bus that will take us to Madaba's St George Church, the viewpoint at Mount Nebo and down to the Dead Sea, for a dip in the salty water. We return to spend a second night in Madaba.
Day 3: After breakfast at the hotel, we drive south on the Desert Highway to Wadi Rum, where we meet our Bedouin hosts and have lunch. Then, after a short hike to Lawrence's Well, we drive to our traditional Bedouin camp in the desert.
Day 4: Today, we drive south in rugged 4WD vehicles to Jebel Khasch and have a morning's hike across this rocky massif, with great views from the summit plateau. After lunch, we enjoy a desert hike before returning to camp.
Day 5: Jebel Um Adaami (1832m) is Jordan's highest peak and is located at the southern edge of the Wadi Rum Protected Area. We drive to the base of this rocky mountain and make a 3-hour round trip to the top. Later, we visit an ancient Nabatean well, before returning to our camp.
Day 6: Our final day in Wadi Rum will involve a drive into Wadi Ramman, followed by a trek through the massif of Jebel Rum. After lunch at Rum Village, we will drive to Aqaba and check in at our hotel.
Day 7: We spend a day at Aqaba, with a trip by glass-bottom boat, looking out for reef fish. We can check out the beach and exploring the streets of the town, before driving north to Wadi Musa, the gateway to Petra. Overnight at a Wadi Musa hotel.
Day 8: We have a full day to explore Petra with a knowledgeable guide. After our visit, we drive north to Amman Airport in time for our homeward flight.
Learning Outside the Classroom
If you have a particular part of your curriculum that needs fulfilling whilst you are away, we are more than happy to work this into your itinerary. Incorporating learning objectives into your School Group Adventure allows the pupils to engage with the learning process. If you send us your list of criteria, we will write the programme for you.
