School Trek - Mount Kenya

Day 1: Arriving in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, we will be met and escorted to the group hotel.
Day 2: We drive to the Mount Kenya National Park and then transfer to 4WD vehicles for the final 25km track up to the Chogoria Gate (2730m). Overnight in a 'banda' (basic mountain lodge accommodation).
Day 3: In the morning we enjoy a game viewing walk in the national park where we can hope to see elephant, buffalo and other local game. After breakfast we begin our trek with the walk to the camp at Lake Ellis (3390m). Later there is the option to take an acclimatisation walk on Mugi Hill. breakfast, trek to our camp at Lake Ellis (3390m). Optional afternoon acclimatisation walk up Mugi Hill (3640m)
Day 4: Today we trek across moorland to join the main Chogoria trail. There are great views of Vivienne Falls and Gorges Valley. We descend to the most picturesque campsite on the mountain, at Lake Michaelson. Camp (4000m)
Day 5: We ascend into the alpine zone, above the treeline, and head towards the north side of Point Lenana. A short, sharp scree slope takes us to our camp at Simba Tran (4620m)
Day 6: An early start for the relatively easy ascent to point Lenana (4985m), the trekkers summit of Mount Kenya. We enjoy sunrise over Africa and descend via the Sirimon route to Old Moses Camp (3400m)
Day 7: After breakfast we trek down to the park gate where we meet with our vehicles and return to Nairobi. We have the use of day rooms in a hotel to wash and change before transferring to the airport for our departure.
