Mgoun, Toubkal and Essaouira

Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in Marrakech. Complimentary airport transfers are provided for clients arriving on this day. KE Land Only services begin with the evening meal. Hotel.
Day 2: Drive (4 hours) to the Bougmez valley in the Central Atlas. We meet with the muleteers at Arous and walk for 2 hours to our first camp close to the Azibs n'Ikkis at 2500m.
Day 3: We follow the Ikkis river to the cirque at Tiwawakyhe. The ridge offers a remarkable view of Mgoun's north face and the high valley of the Tessaout River. We stop in an ideal camping place close to the source of the Tessaout (2990m).
Day 4: The long ridgeline of l'Ighil Mgoun takes us to the summit of Mgoun at 4068m. After enjoying the sensational views we make a quick descent to Oulilimt, close to the springs of the Mgoun Assif. Camp is at 2800m.
Day 5: A superb and varied day. We follow the Ameskar Gorge, through an ever-changing landscape of green fields and ochre-coloured villages. Passing the villages of M'Rabtine (1900m) and Ifkiren we make camp at the entrance to the gorge.
Day 6: A spectacular start to the day wading the waters through the Gorge de Achabou where the walls tower overhead only a few metres apart. After 45 minutes the valley opens out and we once agian trek through fields and Berber villages to reach Aguerzaka where we stay overnight in a gite.
Day 7: We return to Marrakech via the Dades Valley, along the famous "Road of the Kasbahs" then over the Tizi n'Tichka to Imlil at the foot of Toubkal. We stay overnight in a comfortable gite at Ait Soukha.
Day 8: Hike via the holy site of Sidi Charmouch to the Neltner Refuge (3207m. / 10,522ft.). Camp.
Day 9: Ascent of Jebel Toubkal (4167m. / 13,672ft.) North Africa's highest peak. From the summit descend to our gite in Ait Souka.
Day 10: A short walk down to Imlil, where we meet our transport for the drive to the Atlantic coast reaching Tafedna after approximately 5 hours.
Day 11: Trek along the coast to and trek to little port of Sidi Ahmed Srir. Camp. 5 - 6 hours.
Day 12: Walk through coastal hills and farmland to Sid M'Bark . Camp. 5 hours walking.
Day 13: Hike through coastal forest over rocky promontories and along the beach to Sidi Kaouki where we meet our vehicles and drive Essaouria. (4 hours walk). Ovenight in hotel.
Day 14: The morning is free to enjoy the beach or the souk and after lunch we transfer (2 hours) back to Marrakech where we check in to our hotel. We take dinner in the hotel or at a nearby restaurant.
Day 15: KE Land Only services end after breakfast. Complimentary airport transfers are provided for clients departing on this day.
This holiday involves going to high altitude. During the course of your trip you will reach altitudes in excess of 3500 metres. This is not something that you should worry about; the human body is quite capable of adapting to a very wide range of altitudes, but it is important that we follow some simple rules in order to acclimatise successfully.
