Home to some of the world’s best-known archaeological treasures, Egypt is a simply fantastic destination for a School Adventure. After a visit to the amazing Pyramids at Giza, our journey continues by overnight train to Aswan on the River Nile. Traditional river boats known as feluccas provide the transport from here as we sail downstream, stopping off to visit colourful Nubian villages, stroll amongst groves of date palms and explore monuments dating from the time of the Pharoahs. Combining a series of day-hikes with an authentic Nile cruise, this is a great way to experience the magic of Egypt.

Civilization flourished in Egypt 5000 years ago, a simply amazing fact that is more easily understood after travelling widely through this magnificent desert land.

Amend or Extend

Allow extra days for further exploration of the major sites of the Nile Valley or for a visit to Hurghada on the Red Sea, where swimming, snorkelling and topping up the tan provide a suitably relaxing finale to the trip.

We recommend a minimum age of 14 years

This trekking and sightseeing trip includes several short day-hikes on the banks of the Nile. The longest of these walks will not exceed 4 hours in duration and will be on good tracks and village footpaths. Additionally, the trip will involve a fair amount of active sightseeing at a number of the most important Egyptian monuments. Physically, this is a relatively undemanding trip and does include plenty of time for relaxation. Each KE School Adventure is given a grade, taking into account the amount of walking involved, the difficulty of the terrain, the remoteness, the altitude and the overall length of the trip. The trips are graded on a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being the most challenging. This trip is graded 2.
