School Adventure - Land of the Pharoahs
Holiday Itinerary
Day 1: On arrival at Cairo Airport, we meet a representative of our local agent and transfer to the group hotel. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: We have a morning visit to the fantastic Pyramids at Giza accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide. Then, in the afternoon, we transfer to the railway station to catch the overnight sleeper train to Aswan.
Day 3: Arriving in Aswan refreshed, we have a full morning of sightseeing including at the incredible Aswan Dam. After lunch we board the felucca and pass by Elephantine Island. Overnight on the boat.
Day 4: In the morning, we disembark and make a trek through the Nubian villages on the west bank. In the afternoon we continue our Nile cruise and spend a second night on the felucca.
Day 5: Again, we have a morning of walking, as we visit the market at Daraw. After lunch we sail to Kom Ombo where we visit the temple dedicated to the crocodile god and the falcon god. Overnight on the felucca.
Day 6: Leaving the boat again, we have a 3-hour hike to a viewpoint at the Pharoah's quarry at Silsila. Lunch, then afternoon and overnight on the felucca.
Day 7: An hour's sail to Edfou. Visit Horus Temple, then drive to Luxor. Afternoon visit to Karnak and the Valley of the Kings etc.. Overnight train back to Cairo.
Day 8: Arriving in Cairo, we check in at the group hotel. Then, we have a guided sightseeing tour of the city, including a visit to the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 9: After breakfast at the hotel, we transfer to Cairo Airport to check in for the homeward flight.
