School Adventure - A Land like no Other
Holiday Itinerary
Day 1: The group flight arrives in Colombo. Pick up at the airport and transfer to Habarana, where we check in to our hotel and have the afternoon at leisure.
Day 2: Morning trek to the Rock Fortress of Sigiriya, then on to our campsite located in the Knuckles Range of mountains via Dambulla Caves. A stop at the spice garden for a Sri Lankan lunch.
Day 3: A day for project work in Meemure. There has been ongoing support from the Juniper trust to this project.
Day 4: Trek on jeep road and tracks , through scrub forest and plantation farmland, to Corbett's Gap, a split in the Kandyan Hills. Return to a campsite above Meemure.
Day 5: Leave, after breakfast, for Kandy, Sri Lankas hill capital. Late lunch at the Hotel, then an evening visit to the Temple of the Tooth. Overnight at a Hotel in Kandy
Day 6: Early morning drive to Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawela. Then, return to Kandy via the Royal Botanical Gardens at Paradeniya. We spend a second night in our hotel in Kandy.
Day 7: The morning is at leisure to explore Kandy on your own. Walk through the bustling market bazaar area which is the nerve centre of Kandy. Leave in the afternoon for Maskeliya, the base of Adam's Peak. Overnight at a local guest house
Day 8: Early start for the ascent of Adam's Peak. Dawn views, then descend. We rejoin our vehicles for the transfer to Nuwara Eliya
Day 9: Drive to Horton Plains. Short trekking circuit to World's End and Baker's Falls, then we return to our vehicle and drive to our overnight hotel accommodation in Bandarawela.
Day 10: Trek from Adisham Monastery through pine forest of the Thangamale Nature Reserve. Then return to our overnight hotel accommodation in Bandarawela.
Day 11: Leave after breakfast for the beach resort Marawila. The afternoon at leisure at Marawilla. Overnight at our beach front hotel.
Day 12: Day at leisure at Marawilla. Overnight at our beach front hotel.
Day 13: Early group transfer to the airport. The group flight departs from Colombo.
