Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). A single timed airport transfer is provided. The afternoon is free for independent sightseeing. KE Land Only package services begin with the overnight stay at the group hotel.
Day 2: In the morning we visit the famous Cu Chi Tunnels before returning to Saigon in time for lunch. This afternoon we will have a walking tour of the city and, time allowing, we will visit the National Assembly, Hotel de Ville, Notre Dame Cathedral, Reunification Hall and the War Crimes Museum. Late afternoon we depart for Cho Lach, on the Mekong Delta, where we will overnight in a riverside homestay.
Day 3: Awakening to the sounds of life on the Delta, today we have a chance to explore this fertile region - known as the 'rice bowl of Vietnam'. We will take a short tour by bicycle around Cho Lach before taking a boat to Can Tho town, the commercial and cultural capital of the Delta. The afternoon if free to explore the verdant gardens, and riverfront promenades. Overnight homestay.
Day 4: An early start to visit the Phong Dien floating market. Cruising through the channels, we'll visit a village where rice noodles are made. In the afternoon we take a boat to Chau Doc, nearby the Cambodian border, where we will spend our last night in Vietnam. We visit a nearby Muslim Cham village where we can learn more about rural life on the Mekong Delta. Overnight hotel Chau Doc.
Day 5: An early start for the speedboat journey up the Mekong from Chao Doc to Phnom Penh, the Cambodian capital. In the afternoon we will visit Wat Phom by tuk tuk. On returning to Phnom Penh we will fit in a quick visit to the National Museum before returning to our hotel. The evening is free for exploration of the city by night. Overnight in a hotel.
Day 6: A sobering experience today as we visit the Toul Slen Genocide Museum where we'll learn about Cambodia's troubled past. Toul Slen was the notorious Khmer Rouge prison known as S-21. Next we visit Choeung Ek, one of the infamous 'killing fields', before heading to Kompong Thom, midway between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. En route we can try the local delicacy - deep fried tarantula! Overnight hotel.
Day 7: Today we head to Siem Reap, en route we will visit the impressive temple complex at Sambor Prei Kuk, where there are more than 100 ancient temples scattered throughout the forest and Spean Praptos to see the famous Kampong Kdei Bridge and Lake Tonle Sap - the largest freshwater lake in the whole of South-East Asia. We arrive in Siem Reap in the late afternoon. Overnight hotel.
Day 8: We begin the day with a bike tour of the Roulos Group of temples, including Bakong and Prasat Preah Ko and Lolei. We will also visit the market town of Psar Bakong. In the afternoon we visit Angkhor Thom, the ancient walled city which houses some of the most famous temples, including the Bayon and climb the hill at Phnom Bakheng to make sure we've the best view as the sunsets. Overnight hotel.
Day 9: Today we begin with a sunrise visit to Ta Prohm, the 'tombraider' temple before we heading to Angkhor Wat itself. We will also walk up to Kbal Spean to see the beautiful carved riverbed. Later in the day we take a look around Banteay Srei, a temple dedicated to Shiva, before climbing the staircase to the top of the pyramidal temple at Pre Rup, for another fantastic sunset. Overnight hotel.
Day 10: This morning we drive to Battambang, the foremost rice producing province in Cambodia. We take a cycle tour of the local villages. Next we visit Wat Koh, where we learn about life in a rural village and try our hand at making rice paper, before taking the bamboo train back to Battambang. This afternoon we visit the hill top temples of Wat Banan and Wat Ek Phnom. Overnight hotel.
Day 11: We leave Cambodia today, driving over the border into neighbouring Thailand. We drive south to Trat, from where we take the ferry to the idyllic Thai island of Koh Chang where we check into a hotel and settle in for some R&R.
Day 12: A full day at leisure. There is the option to do some sea kayaking, snorkeling, take a boat trip or explore the island by local truck. Alternatively you can just relax! Overnight in our beach hotel.
Day 13: A free morning to relax at the beach before we board the ferry and then drive to Bangkok. Your time is free on arrival to explore South East Asia's most vibrant city. Overnight in a Bangkok hotel.
