School Adventure - Hilltribes and Temples

Holiday Itinerary

Day 1: Arriving at Bangkok Airport in the morning we meet our KE representative and transfer to the group hotel. The afternoon free to relax or explore the area.

Day 2: A morning's guided sightseeing tour on foot and by ferry, including the Grand Palace, Emerald Buddha and Wat Po and Wat Arun. Afternoon free and then overnight sleeper train to Chiang Mai.

Day 3: Arrive at Chiang Mai in the morning and transfer to the group hotel. Sightseeing in the old city and at Doi Suthep Temple. Evening visit to the bustling night market.

Day 4: In the morning we will visit an Elephant Camp to see the mahouts feeding and bathing the elephants. After lunch we spend the afternoon at a Thai cookery course, dinner is included! Overnight at our Chiang Mai hotel.

Day 5: We depart early morning and head towards the Sukothai province for our visit to Baan Dong Yah Pa village where we enjoy a homestay experience with a local Thai family.

Day 6: A full day with our host families. There will be a range of different things to do with the emphasis on integrating into the familys daily routine. This could be cooking, fishing or maybe planting rice in the paddy fields.

Day 7: Today we drive across country via Tak to Mae Sot where we have lunch.. We stop off on route to visit the Sukothai, a UNESCO World Heritage site. We then continue via the spectacular 'Sky Road' to Um Phang. Overnight lodge.

Day 8: We meet our rafts and crew and begin the first leg of our journey into the forest wilderness with easy rafting on Mae Kong River, passing waterfalls, cliffs and hot springs. After lunch we walk to Forest Camp and then return to Thi Lo Su waterfalls. Camp.

Day 9: After breakfast, the day begins with a 2-hour walk along the Klong River. We continue our rafting journey arriving at Palatha Village, inhabited by Karen people, where we take lunch. We continue in the rafts to Thi Lor Ley waterfall. Wild camp.

Day 10: We continue our trek through the Jungle. The rafts and other gear will have to be carried out using elephants. The elephants will accompany us all the way to the end of the trek at the road-head and the Karen village of Sepala. Camp in jungle.

Day 11: We walk out of the jungle to the village of Sepala. Here we meet our transport for the ride back to Mae Sot. We then continue our drive to Phitsanulok, where we overnight in a hotel.

Day 12: We fly back to Bangkok and then transfer to the coastal town of Ban Rae. From here we take a ferry to the island of Ko Samet with its dazzling white sands, fringed with palms and lapped by crystal clear waters. Overnight beach bungalows.

Day 13: A full day on Ko Samet which can be used as you like. It is a great place to relax and have fun swimming or beach activities.

Day 14: Time to leave, we check out and return by boat to the mainland. Transfer to Bangkok Airport for the return flight home.
