The Salkantay Trail and Lake Titicaca

Day 1: Arrive into Cusco. KE Land Only package services begin with a transfer to our centrally located hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax, acclimatise and explore this ancient quarters of Cusco. Overnight at the group hotel.
Day 2: Exploring this former Incan capital on foot, we visit the impressive stonewalled complex of Sacsayhuaman. With the rest of the afternoon free to wander the cobbled streets, seeking out ancient and colonial sights, we spend a second night in our hotel.
Day 3: Departing by private bus we head for the Sacred Valley, alighting at Maras. Known for its salt evaporation ponds, farmers have been harvesting salt here since Incan times. With an exploratory walk, we rejoin our transport, driving onwards to the trekker's town of Ollantaytambo and overnight at simple lodge.
Day 4: Our trek begins with a 4 to 5 hour transfer to the ancient town of Mollepata. With a well-paced half-day of trekking through Andean villages, we arrive at our first camp of Challacancha. 4 to 5 hours walking.
Day 5: Breaking camp this morning, we ascend towards our high point of today, Soraypampa at 3850m. With spectacular views of Nevado Salkantay (6271m), we enjoy the most picturesque of walks to our camp at Salcantaypampa. 4 to 5 hours walking.
Day 6: The objective for today is our steady ascent over the Salcantaycasa Pass (4600m). Rewarded by incredible panoramic vistas of snow-capped Andean peaks, we descend to Huayracmachay (3750m), camping in view of the Huamantay (5917m). 4 to 5 hours walking.
Day 7: Descending to an altitude of 2000m, we pass through a number of villages and forgotten ruins. With the possibility of freshening-up at thermal-springs en-route, we leave behind the high peaks and pass through cocoa and coffee plantations as we descend to our final camp at 2000m.
Day 8: Trekking to Intihuatana we pass through the archaeological site of Llactpata, where the Incan Empire ruins become more prevalent as we are now only a day away from Machu Picchu. Boarding a train for our final kilometres into Aguas Caliente we overnight at a traditional Inn.
Day 9: An early start for the bus ride up to Machu Picchu. We have a fully guided tour, as well as free time to look around the site independently. In the afternoon, we return to Cusco by train and private bus. Overnight in the group hotel.
Day 10: Driving across the continental divide, we head for the shores of Lake Titicaca. Breaking the journey by stopping at some lesser known Incan sites, we arrive into the small shore town of Puno and check-in to our hotel.
Day 11: Straddling Peru and Bolivia, traditional communities continue to live on the reed islands of Uros. Taking a short boat journey to meet the residents of the Uros, we explore Titicaca's Chuquito Peninsula before returning to Puno for a second night.
Day 12: KE Land Only group package services end after breakfast. Complimentary airport transfers are provided to Juliaca airport.
