I had a really stressful time at work before leaving on this holiday and from the moment I landed in Catania I knew I could leave it all behind. I knew it would be a fantastic trip because of where we were going, but I didn't realise what a difference having such a good guide would make.
Gianluca was an amazing guide. His English was fantastic, he had knowledge about everything (and would ask if he didn't). He had an excellent sense of humour and really worked hard to make my holiday great. He couldn't have done anything else to make it better. He is the best guide ever!

good hotels with friendly staff. Breakfasts fine, picnic lunches filling and
sustaining, evening meal venues excellent in choice and food.
Stunning volcanoes - Vulcano and especially Stromboli at night from close quarters.

cannot praise our leader Salvatore enough. In every respect he was outstanding. His
knowledge, not only of the islands and mountains, but of the the restaurants,
people, history, culture etc was superb. He proved flexible in arrangements,
involved the whole group in decision making, including the daily itinerary and
any adjustments to the schedule made necessay by the weather. He is also
extremely friendly and humorous and a great trekking companion.
I haven't stopped talking about this venture since our return - to the envy of friends and family alike. In every respect the holiday was superb and on the basis of this experience I would, and will, recommend ke adventure travel to anyone who seeks to do something different. A truly memorable experience. Many thanks to all at ke and to Salvatore, our local guide, in particular.

Storms and heavy rain curtailed the climb up Etna but that was just one of those things. As we had had wonderful close up experiences on Vulcano and Stromboli we didn't feel that we had missed that much.
What I most enjoyed - Evening climb to the Stromboli crater, magnificent sunset followed by a full moon to help light the way down - and a great display of activity at the top after darkness fell.

Booking was very easy via the KE website. The staff in the office where helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The meeting at the airport was well organized. All transfers were good even if some were by public transport and a party of 13 sometimes led to overcrowding. The weather was good, the Sicilian pace of life was so laid back, food was good, wine was good, the group was an excellent group to travel with, the trip leader was extremely organized, patient and knowledgeable: and this is before you start talking about the treks and volcanoes. This was nice trekking in a lovely part of the world with nature at its most awe inspiring; I would recommend it to anyone.

This trip exceeded my expectations. I chose it because it was a 'different' kind of holiday to those I am used to taking, but it was so much better than I thought. The walking was hard work sometimes, but the achievement of reaching the summits felt great. I enjoyed the walking, of course, but it was the overall experience of the volcanoes, Sicily and the Aeolian Islands that made it amazing. The variety of daily treks, and the weather made it a very enjoyable week.
