Mount Ararat Climb - Turkey's Fabled Mountain

Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in Istanbul. KE Land Only package services begin with overnight at the hotel. A single group transfer from Istanbul Airport is provided.
Day 2: A sightseeing day in Istanbul, we visit the Blue Mosque, the Hippodrome, the church of Aya Sofya and the Grand Bazaar. We spend a second night at our Istanbul hotel.
Day 3: We take an internal flight eastwards to Van and from there drive to Dogubeyazit, where we check in at our hotel. We have time to check our gear in the afternoon.
Day 4: After an early breakfast, we make the short transfer to the village of Eli (2200m / 7218ft) and begin our trek. With mules to carry our gear, we ascend 1000 metres (3300 feet) to Green Camp.
Day 5: Acclimatisation day. Day-hike up to approximately 3700 metres and return to spend a second night at Green Camp.
Day 6: Today, we hike up to our High Camp at 4100 metres (13,450 feet). Situated in a cleared area amongst basalt boulders, we have good views from here of Little Mount Ararat.
Day 7: We have an early 'alpine' start for the climb to Ararat's summit. We reach the snow at around 5000 metres (16,400 feet) and stop to put on our crampons. Descend all the way to Green Camp.
Day 8: We trek out to the roadhead and meet our transport for the drive back to Dogubeyazit, where we check in at the group hotel.
Day 9: We make a tour of the area, including visits to the Ishakpasa Palace and the Noah's Ark Visitor Centre. In the afternoon we drive to Van where we check into the group hotel.
Day 10: We take the return flight to Istanbul, where we connect with the homeward flight. KE Land Only package services end on arrival at Istanbul Airport. .
This holiday involves going to very high altitude. During the course of your trip you will be spending at least one night above 4000 metres and/or trekking to 5000 metres or above. This is not something that you should worry about; the human body is quite capable of adapting to a very wide range of altitudes, but it is important that we follow some simple rules in order to acclimatise successfully.
