- A mountain biking holiday beneath North Africa`s highest peak
- Bike remote Atlas trails including suberb singletrack descents
- Challenging mountain bike climbs on wild jeep roads
- An action packed mountain biking holiday week
- Start and end in the bustling town of Marrakech
Designed to complement our Across the High Atlas bike traverse, this radical 1-week circumnavigation of Mount Toubkal offers the very best of Moroccan fat tyre biking, crossing several high passes on a mixture of jeep roads and singletrack trails between picturesque Berber villages. After our arrival in the colourful, red-walled city of Marrakech, we make the short drive to Tagadirt (1280m), in the heart of Atlas Mountains, where we begin our biking adventure with a tough climb to the Tizi Tawoute (2350m). Mount Toubkal, Morocco's highest mountain is ever present on our 7-day anti-clockwise circuit, as we cross several more challenging high mountain passes, each offering a variety of fast and sometimes technical singletrack descents. Making the best use of our 4x4 vehicle support, we are able to drive a few unavoidable tarmac sections, which allows us to concentrate on the best fat tyre biking this circuit has to offer. Jeep road climbs that will challenge even the fittest riders, singletrack descents to satisfy any adrenaline junkie and an action packed tour of the Atlas Mountains combine to make this holiday a winner. As with our Across the High Atlas trip, only confident and experienced riders should apply for what is arguably the best one-week Moroccan mountain biking experience currently on offer.
Is this holiday for you?
FAT TYRE ADVENTURE. One of our toughest mountain bike holidays, involving long days and testing biking conditions. In total, we climb and descend approximately 10,000 metres whilst covering approximately 400 kilometres off-road. The majority of the route is on piste (dirt) roads or on tracks between the valleys and villages. There are some long sections where we have to push or carry our bikes up to passes and occasional sections of descent that are too technical to ride. In Morocco, the altitude is not a major factor but the heat of the sun can be, which is why we run this trip either side of the hot summer months. A good level of fitness and competent bike handling skills are essential for this holiday. It is definitely not a trip for beginners. We must stress that apart from the emergency tool kit, water, trail food and windproof top that you would take on any day ride, you will not be required to carry anything. This is pure mountain biking. It is the diversity of this trip that makes it so superb. Stunning scenery, great cycling, and the friendliness of the local people make this an unforgettable experience. Biking in remote areas, you need to be confident in your ability. Average daily distance 55 kilometres. For approximately half of the circuit, the support vehicle cannot follow the bikes. BIKE HIRE AVAILABLE LOCALLY.
