Sandwiched between the Aosta Valley and the Italian Piedmont, the Gran Paradiso National Park in Italy offers the chance of a walking holiday in Paradise! Our circuit trek takes us through a high mountain environment of hanging valleys, snow covered Alpine peaks, towering cliffs and impressive glaciers in the shadow of the highest peak situated entirely in Italy - Gran Paradiso. En route, we trek through picturesque valleys and cross high cols, looking out for the Alpine wildlife that Gran Paradiso National Park is famous for, such as chamois, ibex, marmots and eagles. Although an area of outstanding beauty, the Gran Paradiso has escaped the attention of the crowds, thereby rewarding the intrepid and discerning hiker with a wild solitude which has been long lost in other regions of the Alps. This new Alpine walking holiday is the one to do if you really want to get off the beaten trail!
Is this holiday for you?
The Tour del Gran Paradiso is a new KE Alpine walk in the Gran Paradiso National Park of Italy. This walking holiday does not involve glacial travel but there is a considerable amount of ascent and descent as we travel through a quiet wilderness area. It is not practicable to provide vehicle support for this circuit as nights are spent in inaccessible mountain refuges so this is an unsupported trek. You will have to carry all of your own equipment from the start of the trip to the finish. In practice, especially considering that neither sleeping bag nor camping mattress are needed for this trip, you should be able to keep the packed weight of your rucksack to as little as 8kg. On average, we will walk for 7 - 9 hours each day, with the possibility of some longer days. This is among our hardest graded non-glacial Alpine walking trips and you should have a good level of fitness and previous walking experience before coming on this holiday.
