Holiday Itinerary

Day 1: Rendezvous at the group chalet in Argentiere in the Chamonix Valley. The guide will chat about the days ahead and check out your equipment. KE Land Only package services begin with the evening meal.

Day 2: Leaving Argentiere, we take the cable car to Bellevue and walk to the Col de Tricot. We descend to the Chalet de Miage and then continue to Les Contamines where we spend the night. Walk distance: 16km, Ascent: 837m, Descent: 1517m. Approximate time taken to complete the day: 7 - 8 hours.

Day 3: We follow the valley to the refuge at Le Balme and then ascend to the Col de Bonhomme (2469m). Then traversing via the Croix de Bonhomme, we make the gentle descent to our overnight stop at Les Chapieux. Walk distance: 18km, Ascent: 1537m, Descent: 1044m. Approx 8 hours.

Day 4: Our objective today is the Col de la Seigne (2513m) on the Italian border. Beyond this scenic pass, we make an easy descent into Val Veni, where we catch a bus to the pretty Italian resort of Courmayeur. Overnight at a hotel in La Palud above Courmayeur. Walk distance: 17km, Ascent: 1196m, Descent: 1349m. Approx 6 - 7 hours.

Day 5: We climb to the Monte de la Saxe Ridge with views of Mont Blanc and the Grandes Jorasses. Then we either descend to La Vachey and follow the valley or cross the col Deux Sauts to reach Arnouva. From here, we catch a bus back to Palud for a second night. Walk distance: 21km, Ascent: 1590m, Descent: 1257m. Approx 9 hours.

Day 6: From La Pud we take a bus back up to the Val Ferret where we start the climb to the Col du Grand Ferret (2530m). Here, we have great views of the Grand Combin (4090m) and Mont Dolent (3823m). Entering Switzerland we descend to La Fouly. Walk distance: 16km, Ascent: 915m, Descent: 1096m. Approx 7 - 8 hours.

Day 7: Today we have a relatively gentle and mostly downhill walk through woodland, and by way of several typically Swiss villages, to Champex. Overnight at this 'Chocolate Box Village'. Walk distance: 17km, Ascent: 711m, Descent: 855m. Approx 5 - 6 hours.

Day 8: We have a long climb up to the Fenetre d'Arpette (2665m), where we can enjoy spectacular views across the Trient Glacier. We then descend via the Col de Forclaz (1572m) to our hotel accommodation in Trient. Walk distance: 15km, Ascent: 1587m, Descent: 1572m. Approx 8 hours.

Day 9: We climb up through fine woodland to reach the Col de Balme. Here, crossing into France again, we descend into the head of the Chamonix Valley and reach our chalet accommodation in Argentiere. Walk distance: 18km, Ascent: 1484m, Descent: 1761m. Approx 8 - 9 hours.

Day 10: Today, we hike up to the Col des Montets and from there, via the cliffs of Le Chesery, to Lac Blanc, arguably the Chamonix Valley's best viewpoint. We descend to La Flegere and take the bus back to the chalet in Argentiere. Walk distance: 9km, Ascent: 1066m, Descent: 629m. Approx 6 hours.

Day 11: Returning to the end point of the previous day, we follow a superb trail to the Col du Brevent and the Brevent Summit. We then make the long descent to Les Houches via Merlet.
