Morocco, Trek & Walk, 11 days - from £495 (land only) - from €620 (land only) - from $865 (land only)
Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in Marrakech. Complimentary airport transfers are provided for clients arriving on this day. Depending on your arrival time you may have time to explore the streets of Marrakech. KE Land Only package begins with the evening meal.
Day 2: Morning sightseeing tour of Marrakech with an English speaking tour guide. We'll have time to explore the UNESCO Djemaa-el-Fna and labyrinth of the souk. After lunch we drive to Imlil, climbing into the foothills of the Atlas before making the short walk to the start point of our trek at Ait Souka (1900m) where we check into our gite for the night.
Day 3: Today is a planned acclimatisation day to enjoy a day walk which will help us prepare for time spent trekking higher in the Atlas Mountains. One option is to follow the Mezzik Valley trek to a col at 2660m, which provides us with a wonderful mountain panorama. After a leisurely lunch in the shade, we retrace our steps back down to our welcoming gite in Ait Souka. Walk distance approx: 4hrs.
Day 4: We start trekking today via the traditional Berber village of Tamatert before crossing the Tizi-n-Tamatert Pass (2279m). Our route offers stunning views of Jebel Oukaimeden (3273m) across the valley and we'll have time to stop for traditional mint tea along the way. In the afternoon we descend and prepare for our first night under canvas at Ouaneskra (2500m). Walk distance approx: 4-5hrs.
Day 5: Today starts with a tough hike up to the Tizi-n-Likemt (3550m), passing multi-coloured hillsides, agricultural terraces and rocky peaks as we leave the greenery of the valley behind. After lunch we take a long, but well-paced descent to our streamside camp at Azib Likemt (2550m), which offers a welcoming place to cool our feet. Walk distance approx: 5-6hrs.
Day 6: fter leaving camp we follow the Assif Tinzart upstream through a narrow gorge and cross the Tizi-n-Ouria (3109m). From here we'll have our first full view of the massive summit of Mount Toubkal. After lunch, we drop down steadily through villages until reaching our camp on the valley floor (1750m - 1850m). Walk distance approx: 5-6hrs.
Day 7: A more relaxed day today as we trek through a green and pleasant valley towards Lake Ifni, famed for its aqua-marine waters and picturesque setting. We'll have time to relax by the lake or enjoy a lake swim before setting off for our high camp. Tonight we may camp near the lake (approx. 2295m) or slightly higher up in preparation for tomorrow's ascent. Walk distance approx: 4-5hrs.
Day 8: A spectacular day today as we trek up to one of the most spectacular pass crossings in the Atlas, the Tizi-n-Ouanoums (3650m) located between the two highest peaks in the Atlas Mountains - Toubkal and Ouanoukrim. After our long climb to reach the col, we descend on scree and rocky trails until reaching our camp next to the Neltner Refuge (3207m). Walk distance approx: 5-6hrs.
Day 9: An early start today as we set off on the steep ascent to the summit of Jebel Toubkal (4167m). With glorious Atlas Mountain views from the summit, this straightforward trekking peak is highly rewarding. We'll have time to enjoy the views and take the all important "summit photos," before an extended afternoon of descent down to our welcoming gite in Ait Souka. Walk distance approx: 7-8hrs.
Day 10: After a short walk down to Imlil, we meet our transport back to Marrakech and check-in to the group hotel. The afternoon is free for sightseeing and in the early evening we can watch the remarkable central square of the Djemaa-el-Fna come alive. We'll rendezvous for a celebratory group meal in the evening to round off a fantastic week.
Day 11: KE Land Only package ends after breakfast. Complimentary airport transfers are provided.
