Turkish Mountain Bike Delight
Holiday Itinerary
Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in Urgup. Transfers from Kayseri Airport to the group hotel are provided for all flights. KE Land Only package services begin with the evening meal.
Day 2: After breakfast and a trip briefing, we will reassemble our bikes and then set off on our first ride of the trip. We will bike into the Uzengi Valley and have lunch at the village of Ortahisar. We return to our hotel in Urgup via an alternative route. Ride distance 30 km (19 miles).
Day 3: Our full day of biking today includes riding out beside the Damsa River to the old 'caravanserai' at Sarihan. We also ride via Avanos and 'Love Valley' to the cave-dweller's town of Uchisar, where we overnight in a hotel. Ride distance 45 km (29 miles).
Day 4: After breakfast, we head south into the Sognali region, famed for its Open Air Museum and wild, natural setting. En route, we pass through numerous villages (including a tea stop at Kavak) and see a variety of spectacular caves and rock spires. We meet or transport and transfer back to our Uchisar hotel. Ride distance 55 km (34 miles.
Day 5: Transferring back to Sognali, we bike through Orhanli to Derinkuyu, where we have lunch and take the opportunity to explore the underground city. We then bike to the base of the volcano, Gollu Dag, before driving to our hotel in Guzelyurt. Ride distance 60 km (38 miles).
Day 6: Today, we have the option to spend an easy day Guzelyurt, with a casual ride around town. Those who would like some time off their bike can explore the town's lively streets and take a walk through Monastery Valley. The guide will also be happy to advise you about longer ride options. Overnight in Guzelyurt. Ride distance 25 km (16 miles).
Day 7: We start by biking to Selime at the start of the Ihlara Canyon. After lunch at Belisirma, there is the choice of and easy hike or a reasonably technical bike ride up to Ihlara Village. From here, we bike across Kucuk Hasan Mountain on a dirt track, before transferring back to Urgup and our hotel. Ride distance 65 km (40 miles).
Day 8: Today, we bike out to Goreme and enjoy the excellent and unique descent into the valley. Whilst here, we visit Goreme's colourful market and also explore amongst steep cliffs and cave dwellings, before riding back to the hotel in Urgup. Ride distance 40 km (25 miles).
Day 9: KE Land Only package services end after breakfast. Transfers to Kayseri Airport are provided for all flights.
