Holiday Itinerary

Day 1: We rendevous at the group hotel in Kathmandu. KE Land Only package services begin with a transfer from Kathmandu Airport to the group hotel. This evening our guide will brief us on the weeks ahead and we will have dinner at our hotel or in a nearby restaurant.

Day 2: We have a free day in Kathmandu. In the morning we have a guided tour of some of the city's most memorable sights. The afternoon is free for relaxing or further independent sightseeing. Overnight at the group hotel.

Day 3: From Kathmandu we drive through the foothills of the Himalaya to the village of Arughat Bazaar (670m) in the Burhi Gandaki Valley. From here a jeep road continues through the villages of Arket and Kyropani to the Soti Khola where we set up camp.

Day 4: Starting the trek, we continue our ascent of the Burhi Gandaki on an undulating trail, finally climbing to reach the village of Machha Khola (890m). Camp.

Day 5: We travel through forests of bamboo and rhododendron and then sections where the trail climbs high above the river to negotiate deep gorges, before arriving at a wide and open part of the valley. We make our camp at the village of Jagat (1410m).

Day 6: We trek through terraced hillside on an undulating trail. We cross the river on a suspension bridge at Nagjet and continue up valley. At the confluence with the Shiar Khola we leave the main Manaslu trail and begin our climb up into the Tsum Valley. We make camp at Lokpa (2240m).

Day 7: We ascend the valley through dense forest of pine and juniper. At Tarung we cross the river and climb a ridge to Chumling (2363m), also known as Lower Tsum. Camp.

Day 8: We continue to follow the Shiar Khola, passing the villages of Rainjam and Dunje to reach Chokhangparo (3010m.), also known as Upper Tsum. We make camp in the village.

Day 9: We continue ascending the valley of the Shiar Khola passing the villages of Ngakyu, Lamagaon and Burji. We cross the river just before Phurbe and continue to our overnight halt at Nile (3361m).

Day 10: The trail now turns north and we pass several long mani walls as we make our approach to Mu Gompa, the highest permanent habitation in the Tsum Valley. We make camp near the monastery at 3700 metres.

Day 11: We climb steeply up to Dhephyudomma Gompa, one of the oldest in the Tsum Valley. We continue above the Gompa to the site of our next camp, Chho Syong, at approximately 4200 metres.

Day 12: We have a day for rest and acclimatisation. During today we will also practice some of the techniques used during the ascent of our peak.

Day 13: We climb up beside the glacier to establish a base camp for our explorations and the climb of Tabsar Peak at around 5000 metres.

Day 14: We spend two nights at this camp acclimatising to the new altitude. During the day we will explore the valley further and we will also practice the techniques required for roped glacier walking and using fixed lines.

Day 15: To further aid our acclimatisation we aim to make an ascent of one of the technically straightforward 6000-metre peaks above our camp. Depending on the results of our explorations, we may also opt to move to a higher camp today.

Day 16: Taking an early start we make our ascent of Tabsar (6065m). Afterwards we descend to base camp or possibly as far as Mu Gompa.

Day 17: From Mu we descend the Shiar Khola, retracing our steps as far as Dumje (2440m).

Day 18: We contiunue down the Shiar Khola to its confluence with the main Burhi Gandaki River beyond Lokpa. Here we turn south and follow the main river to Eklebhatti. (1640m) where we camp.

Day 19: Now on the main Manaslu Circuit trail we continue descending the Burhi Gandaki Valley passing several villages including Jagat, Yaru and Dobhan to reach Tatopani at 990 metres.

Day 20: We continue downstream to Lapu Besi (880m.) where we make our last camp. We say goodbye to our trek crew here.

Day 21: After a short morning's trek to Soti Khola, we meet our vehicles and drive via Arughat to Kathmandu. Arriving in the city we check into our hotel and in the evening we will have a celebratory dinner in Thamel.

Day 22: KE Land Only package services end after breakfast. Complimentary airport transfers are provided.
