- Circular trek through France, Switzerland & Italy
- Saxes Ridge & dramatically situated Cabane d`Orny
- All the high pass crossings and best vantage points
- The Connoisseurs Choice for the Tour Du Mont Blanc
Situated at the junction of France, Italy and Switzerland, the glaciated massif of Mont Blanc is circled by one of the world's greatest and most popular long distance walks - the Tour du Mont Blanc. Using our unrivalled experience, we have devised a walking holiday using the ‘ultimate' version of this historic route, incorporating several exciting variants. Taking the high-level option wherever possible, we traverse passes like the Col des Fours (2665m) and the Col de la Breya (2401m) and also hike the stunning Monte de la Saxe Ridge. En route, we stay in comfortable hotels & lodges and dramatically located mountain huts, such as the Cabane d'Orny, Maison Viellea (above Cormayeur) and the Bonatti Refuge. We offer baggage supprt where we can but there are three nights without support. This superb adventure presents the best of the Mont Blanc region, with a blend of breathtaking views, alpine meadow trails, picturesque hamlets and an abundance of wildflowers... the Ultimate Tour of Mont Blanc.
Which Tour Du Mont Blanc is for you? The Classic Tour Du Mont Blanc (TMH) or the Ultimate Tour Du Mont Blanc (UTM)? - Both holidays are the same duration and involve 10 days walking without rest days. Whilst the Classic Tour completes the entire circuit, it does miss out a few of the higher cols and refuges, often retuning to the valley to stay in a nice hotel! For those wanting to do the original High Level tour, with a couple of extra nights in Refuges to add character to the route, then the UTM ticks all the boxes. If you are short of time, try the 6-day Best of the Tour Du Mont Blanc (BTM), a shortened version of the Classic Tour, but using vehicle transfers between the best parts of the walk!
Is this holiday for you?
This is a classic Alpine walking holiday on good trails. The average distance covered each day is around 17 kilometres/11 miles and there is a fair amount of ascent and descent. Although this trip is more challenging with longer days than our Classic Tour du Mont Blanc Hotel trek, regular and fit hill walkers will find this trek to be well within their capabilities. Additionally, vehicle support means that you need to carry no more than a small daysack as on all but three of the walking days, there will be a vehicle to carry the group members trek bags to the next overnight stop. If you are looking for a version of the Tour Du Mont Blanc, with all the high cols and spectacularly situated refuges, then this is the one for you.
