Fansipan and Halong Bay - Trekking in Vietnam
Holiday Itinerary
Day 1: Rendezvous at the group hotel in Hanoi. A single timed airport transfer is provided. KE Land Only package services begin with dinner.
Day 2: In the morning there will be a walking tour of the city. Afternoon visit to Ethnology Museum, then free time to explore the Old Quarter. After dinner we take the overnight train to Lao Cai.
Day 3: Arrive Lao Cai in the early morning and transfer to Bac-Ha for breakfast.. Visit to Sin Cheng market then short walk to H'Mong village. Return to Bac-Ha for overnight in hotel..
Day 4: Morning transfer to Sapa, After lunch we have a warm-up trek through Muong Hoa Valley visiting Black Hmong and Giay villages. Return to Sapa for dinner and overnight in a hotel.
Day 5: After a short transfer to the Black Hmong village of Sin Chai, we begin our trek to Fansipan following a good trail through the bamboo forest. We cross several ridges and have to ford the occasional stream. As we gain altitude we enter the cloud forest and after approximately 6 hours walking we arrive at our camp at 2200 metres.
Day 6: From our camp the marked trail is steep in places as we climb the final 940 metres to the summit of Fansipan. If we are lucky with the weather we have great views from the top. After the summit we begin the descent iniitially by the same path to a camp at 2800m. Approx. 8 hours walking.
Day 7: We descend back to our previous camp at 2200m. and then take a different route off the mountain. This is the normal 'tourist' trail and we will encounter many steps and handrails down to Tram Ton where we meet our vehicles and drive back to Sapa. We check into our hotel and relax. 4 - 5 hours trekking.
Day 8: Morning free to explore Sapa market or ascend Ham Rong for panoramic views over the town. Later we have a guided cicuit walk to Cat Cat village stopping at a waterfall and the Black Hmong village of Y Linh Ho. Back in Sapa we have the use of communal 'day rooms' to shower and change before driving to Lao Cai to catch the overnight train to Hanoi.
Day 9: Arriving in Hanoi in the early morning we transfer to Halong Bay. here we board our traditional junk to explore the outcrops and islets of the bay. Dinner and overnight on board.
Day 10: Transfering by taxi boat to Man's Head Island we have a full day's Kayaking tour ending at Three Peach Beach for swimming. Return to Junk for second overnight in cabins.
Day 11: Further Kayaking in Ba Hang area, then cruise to Halong City and transfer to Hanoi. Dinner in traditional restaurant and overnight in hotel.
Day 12: KE Land Only package services end after breakfast. A transfer to the airport will be provided around lunch time for clients travelling on the preferred group flights.
