Vuelta de Mallorca Road Biking
Mallorca & Spain, Bike - Road Cycling, 8 days - from £745 (land only) - from €975 (land only) - from $1,140 (land only)
Day 1: Rendezvous at the group's hotel accommodation in Can Pastilla. The group hotel is 10 minutes from Palma de Mallorca Airport and taxi transfers are simple and cheap to arrange on the spot. In the evening, you will be met by the guide who will give a trip briefing and sort out any hire bikes. KE Land Only package services begin with dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: From Palma Bay we head inland to the town of Llucmajor, then tackle the day's principal objective, the Puig de Randa (518m), cycling to the monastery at the summit via the more challenging southern approach. Descending the Puig's west side, we loop around northwards through Algaida and back to Ca'n Pastilla. Ride distance: 74 km, with 900 metres of ascent and descent.
Day 3: Today's ride takes us through the western part of the Tramuntana via the picturesque village of Bunyola and the tight hairpins of the Coll de Honor (550m). Then, descending through a beautiful valley, we turn off at Alaro and follow small roads via Selva and Campanet to finally reach our hotel on pretty Pollensa Bay. Ride distance: 85 km, with 1100 metres of ascent and descent.
Day 4: Making an early start, we cycle inland to the lovely town of Pollensa and from there follow a great mountain road westwards, via the Coll de Femenia and Lluc Monastery. Diverting to the Coll dels Reis (682m), we make the stunning 10 km 'Sa Calobra' descent to the sea. After a snack and a rest we do it all again in reverse. Ride distance: 106 km, with 1900 metres of ascent and descent.
Day 5: Another out and back day, as we cycle to the lighthouse at the tip of the truly spectacular Cap de Formentor. Again, we make an early start to make the most of quieter roads on this popular route. We cycle through Port de Pollensa and via several dramatic viewpoints. Not a long ride, but very hilly. Ride distance 55 km, with 1400 metres of ascent and descent.
Day 6: Today's ride takes us back up into the Tramuntana again, via the pretty village of Caimari and the classic climb of the Coll de sa Bataia. There's a great cafe stop at the top, before we climb again to cross the Col de Puig Major (900m). We then have a long and brilliant descent to Soller and our hotel at Port de Soller. Ride distance 80 km, with 1400 metres of ascent and descent.
Day 7: This is a superb final day of cycling that starts out along the coast through the picturesque villages of Deia and Valldemossa. Crossing the Coll de Claret and the Coll de sa Grua, we head inland and traverse the lovely region of Calvia en route to Palma and our seaside hotel in Ca'n Pastilla. Ride distance 80 km, with 1500 metres of ascent and descent.
Day 8: KE Land Only package services end after breakfast. Taxis can be arranged directly at the hotel and the journey to the airport takes just 10 minutes.
