Job Vacancy - Product Team Assistant

We are recruiting for a Product Team Assistant to work in our busy Product team. This role would suit someone who thrives on variety, is keen to learn about all aspects of tour operating, and wishes to grow and develop within the company.


The Company and Team

KE Adventure Travel has been operating active adventure holidays throughout the world since 1984, and has grown to be one of the most respected adventure tour operators in the UK, and a market leader in this sector. We are based in beautiful Keswick in the Northern Lake District.

Anyone joining the company is likely to be passionate about adventure travel and the outdoors. They must also be dedicated to protecting the environment and supporting the company’s pledge to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.


The Role

Supporting the Product team in all aspects of their work, you will work directly with our specialist Product Managers and overseas suppliers, to ensure that we have the very best adventure holidays on sale, and that they run smoothly, with high levels of customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities:

  • You will support the Product Managers in all aspects of planning, setting up and operating our trips. This includes (but is not limited to):
    • Assisting with the set-up of holidays in company systems, apps and website
    • Updating content and ensuring that all information is correct at all times
    • Liaising with overseas suppliers (ground agents) to gather information and get answers to general queries
    • Following up on customer feedback to ensure that any issues are rectified promptly
    • Ensuring supplier contracts and other key documents are sent and responses collated
    • Producing customer documents, ensuring content is well written and relevant images used
    • Ensuring stock levels of maps and Self-Guided route notes are monitored and maintained
    • Involvement in customer and market research
    • Involvement in the development of new adventure itineraries
  • Attend Product team meetings and wider company meetings as required
  • Work closely with other teams, especially Operations, Sales and Marketing
  • Attend trade and consumer shows as required

Flexibility is key - we are a relatively small team and it’s a seasonal business, so all team members must be willing to help out/support other roles and parts of the business at any time.


Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • Maths and English GCSE
  • Educated to A-level, and ideally degree level (preferably a Travel & Tourism qualification).
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • A people person with great interpersonal skills
  • A good writer and numerate
  • Must have excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Must be flexible and thrive on variety – every day will be different
  • Fun, friendly and caring with lots of positive energy
  • Must have some personal travel experience
  • Ideally would have previous travel industry experience, though not essential

Working Hours and Location

We are ideally recruiting for a full-time position (37.5hrs).

We are currently hybrid working, with most team members working a minimum of 2-3 days in our office in the centre of Keswick. We expect this to continue, with the balance of office and home working being continually reviewed as the needs of customers and the business evolve. Many team members prefer to be fully office-based, and there is plenty of office/desk space available.
