Antarctic Hike and Cruise
Antarctic Hike and Sail Expedition

The Antarctica Basecamp trip was well organized with excellent stuff and facilities. The small ship size (~100 passenger) provided an intimate environment. Antarctica was a truly amazing and unique place.

Enjoyable winter hiking surrounded by stunning mountain scenery
Snowshoeing in the Dolomites
Based in the beautiful resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo and surrounded by spectacular peaks, this week was memorable for its variety of enjoyable sensations. Our guide Andrea ensured we had the best winter hiking according to the weather and snow conditions, while expertly judging when a coffee or an excellent meal in a mountain refuge would add to the overall experience. Reaching accessible summits provided a sense of achievement, as well as jaw-dropping panoramas. The group size at 8 was ideally suited to a cohesive team spirit, while the advice to bring micro-spikes was appreciated and perfectly complemented snowshoeing when the snow was packed or trails were icy.

Great hiking, beautiful part of Spain
Self-Guided Walking in Las Alpujarras
Great self-guided trip. In March, when we completed the trip, the trails were quiet. A couple of other walkers at the start of the circuit from Trevelez, but they turned off for the more popular Siete Lagos path after 2km, so the rest of the circuit we saw nobody else other than a farmer on his horse! Other days, we saw no other walkers all day, the exception being the Poqueria circuit on the last day, where we saw three other couples on the trail. In Mecina de Fondales, there is the most amazin g vegetarian restaurant which seems so improbable given how tiny and off the beaten track the village is. I love my meat, but this was one of the best and most enjoyable meals / restaurants I’ve ever been to! The restaurant is tiny and in a ramshackle little house with a real “hippy” vibe to it. It’s just amazing. The hotel in Mecina de Fondales is lovely too, and the owner (Victor) is a fantastic host. I think if you’re a really keen hill-walker, there’s enough difficulty to keep you happy, with some quite vertiginous drops on some of the paths (eg the circuit from Mecina de Fondales). However, the trip can also be done by somebody with less hill-walking experience so long as they’re up for it. My wife has never walked in the Lakes or similar, and whilst she found it tough, she managed it (although after the third day, she was pretty tired, and did find some of the drops at the side of the paths on the Mecina de Fondales circuit a little unnerving, but doable (with trekking poles helping a lot). Even though it was bone dry when we went, and had been for some time, there were still some short (albeit small infrequent) muddy sections, so GoreTex lined boots are a good idea). I’d recommend an extra day added on at the end to go back to Granada. It’s a lovely city, and I wouldn’t have liked to finish the trip by going straight from Pampaneira to Malaga Airport. Overall, a great trip for experienced hill-walkers and reasonably fit novices alike with great views and some lovely food!

Great country
Road Cycle Tour of Toubkal

Great country- very friendly, welcoming people and amazing landscapes. Guides (Abdul and Lahcen) were great. Both Lahcen and Abdul were very attentive. Always willing to answer any questions about their lives, the country and its culture which added so much to a mere cycling trip. Always clear where to regroup and Abdul always at the rear if ever required. Nice blokes.

Wonderful on so many levels
Lake Khuvsgul Dog Sled Adventure
You should continue to run this trip in the future. It is wonderful on so many levels. It is challenging but fun, amazing on a cultural level, interesting given the hands on nature of the trip…you are an active participant and you run your own sled. And Joel is a great guide, upbeat, friendly…experienced, lives and works among the locals, respected by his team and by the people of the area. I would also note our city guide was amazing, helpful, personal. And our drivers were great as well. O ne of the best KE trips I have taken.

What an amazing adventure!
Inside the Arctic Circle - Skiing the Kings Trail

What an amazing adventure! I had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this experience. Our guide, Johanna, was wonderful - fun, knowledgeable and very experienced. She really made the trip extra special - thank you KE and Johanna! She guided us through an Arctic storm, kept our spirits up and kept us safe. Even when we had to stay in a hut for an extra day, we had a really enjoyable time and, in fact, this added to the adventure.

Jam packed walks and wildlife tour...well worth the trip.
Costa Rica Walks and Wildlife
A very well organised and run tour of the real delights of Costa Rica taking in the spectacular volcanic, tropical features and wild life of the land from east to west, mountain highs to Pacific seashores and many more. Priced at a reasonable level it was inclusive and jam packed with extras. Lead by an excellent guide and tour organiser, ably supported by the owner/driver of the coach its busy and relaxed in varying doses. Do always consider the detail in the itinerary and fully pay attention t o the advised kit lists so you can fully cope with the breakdown of your kit when you have to go off grid to the real eco-lodges in the wild. These are rough and ready but absolutely charming.

An excellent trip
Queyras Snowshoe Winter Paradise

An excellent trip in a beautiful area of the French Alps little known outside France. Some days were quite remote and little visited and on one day we saw fox, wolf, lynx and deer prints as well as the remains of a wolf kill of a wild boar, but no people! Paul was probably the best group leader I have ever had and I could not fault him in any way. He is very knowledgable, and very willing to share his knowledge, and an excellent teacher.

The scenery, especially the blue and black ice was amazing.
Lake Khuvsgul Dog Sled Adventure
We could see the snow covered peaks along the Russian border as we approached the northern part of the lake. The temperatures were minus 20 or colder Fahrenheit, yet we were warm while riding our sleds and sleeping in our heated tent. The cook prepared a delicious meal every night cooking in the tent. The support team could not have been better and that includes the dogs! We really enjoyed the hospitality of the local Mongolian people who we met along the way and whose home we stayed in. This wa s truly a once in a lifetime and memorable experience. Joel is truly a Pioneer when it comes to dog sledding. He is amazing with the dogs, the way he cares for them and leads them around the lake. He was great to be around.

Wonderful Walks and Wildlife
Costa Rica Walks and Wildlife
We returned in February from two weeks on the above holiday. What a fantastic trip! If you want to see some of the highlights of Costa Rica this is the one to do. Jo, our brilliant guide, ensured we got the very best of this trip. We walked through wonderful forests, we swam in waterfalls, we were shown incredible wildlife and birds, and delicious picnics and were absorbed by all the information Jo shared with us. Jo also had a great affinity with the communities we visited and was very consider ate and respectful to our hosts. He was always involved in providing the best experience of us. It was a busy and challenging schedule at times but this was how we managed to see and do so much. We laughed a lot and when the going got tough Jo intervened to make things easy. A mention must also go to our driver Carlos who was the best and calmest driver and lives by Pura Vida! Thanks KE

Worthwhile , not a walk in the park.
Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

A trek which shouldn't be underestimated. A good organised trip which you do need to have some sort of fitness for. Not only for the length of the trek, but also to combat altitude sickness, if it strikes. Enjoyable but hard work.

Amazing Adventure
Kilimanjaro Northern Route Traverse and Circuit
One of the best trips I have done! Our guides Onex, Saidi and Joseph were fantastic. They buoyed us up when the walking was tough and were extremely encouraging and never doubted we would make it to the summit; which all of our group did. We had such a great mix of people on the trip with a 73 year old leading the charge! The Northern route isn't as popular which meant at times we were the only people on the paths, this added to the enjoyability of the climb as we could really connect with our s urroundings. Our porters were fantastic and were always warm and welcoming when we arrived into camp each day. The chef was brilliant and even invited us into the kitchen and had me popping popcorn, to the amusement of every body! The memories of this trip; the scenery and the people (especially the guides and porters) will stay with me forever.

Excellent Trip
Kilimanjaro Northern Route Traverse and Circuit

I just want to say that our guides Onex, Saidi and Joseph were AMAZING! We wouldn't have had all of us summit had it not been for these tireless and inspirational leaders. I want to HIGHLY recommend them. They became dear friends to us all. And the chef was on another level. He conjured up the BEST food high up the side of a windswept, remote mountain. An awesome team!

HIGHLIGHTS OF A BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY WITH THE MOST OUTSTANDING GUIDE
Best of Northern India
Each day was more exciting than the last! My goal was just to see the Taj Mahal, but I was absolutely delighted with all the activities and the opportunities for learning more about this beautiful country. Our guide, Ketan, was so knowledgeable and resourceful. From day one it felt like we were touring with a good friend. From the morning safari to the evening Aarti ceremony, this trip was unforgettable, and I feel incredibly blessed to have spent it with such a wonderful guide and group of peop le.

Good walking in the UK winter
La Gomera - Jewel of the Canaries
This trip followed our excellent guided week on Tenerife with KE (see separate review). Dovetailing this week with the Tenerife holiday is easy as you just need to get to the port for the regular ferry to La Gomera. Taxis and buses in Tenerife are plentiful. Our trip started in San Sebastián with the added bonus of experiencing the annual festival. Thereafter we embarked on a lengthy circuit of the mountainous interior of the very beautiful island, walking approx 15km per day with plenty of ups and downs. La Gomera is much quieter and less developed than Tenerife, but the trails are centuries old, formerly used by villagers to move produce around the island. La Gomera has a big following with Germans (reported to be Angela Merkel’s favourite for walking). As with Tenerife, prepare for variations in weather - it can be much cooler than expected, and La Gomera attracts rain in the central highlands. Our guide was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and opinionated! We’ve given separate feedback to KE about him allowing walkers to progress at their own pace. We felt he stopped for too long and too often, which led to us arriving very late in the afternoon/evening. That said, we’re a big fan of Canarian walking to relieve the tedium of the UK winter, and this trip is recommended, although with hindsight I might have done this trip on a self guided basis (although we did have an excellent, friendly group). As with Tenerife, all accommodations were excellent, and the food, drink etc is cheap, tasty and plentiful.

A great break from the British winter, walking off the Xmas excesses!
Walking Undiscovered Tenerife and Pico Teide
Following our superb back-to-back trips to Fuerteventura and Lanzarote in 2022, we decided to back-to-back Tenerife and La Gomera in January this year. The switch to La Gomera is extremely straightforward, made even easier by Cao, our excellent guide on Tenerife, and the holidays really complement each other. Accommodation on the island was varied and excellent; the hotels in La Laguna and Santa Cruz were absolutely superb. Tenerife offers very scenic hiking with plenty of ups and downs. Teide i s the “main attraction”, but January is a tricky month weather wise and we weren’t able to do it. There are, however lots of alternatives. My favourite part of Tenerife is Anaga, with trails that have been used by locals for centuries, exquisitely cut out of the hillside. Sea swimming is possible in January - a bit chilly, but manageable. This holiday has a rest day in the interesting town of La Laguna, the old capital, with many historic buildings, bars and cafes. Our guide, Cao was excellent company and a good leader. He has my particular thanks for nursing me through the week with both a lingering chest infection and a very sore knee. Advice to future travellers - bring gear for every weather eventuality. Even on the same day it can be hot, cold, wet or dry - Teide has snowfall in winter, so boot spikes may also be useful. Eating out is extremely good value, and wine and beer are cheap.

Demanding but thoroughly enjoyable
Self-Guided Walking on Tenerife
A new island for us to visit. Volcanic landscape fascinating. Varied walks starting in the north and working down towards the south through very varied terrrain. Accommodation was excellent on the whole. A good level of basic fitness is essential as 7KM uphill is not unusual. Temperatures were great for walking and vistas breathtaking. KE Adventures were so helpful at all times and sorted out specific information on bus times for us as we found the island website difficult to navigate. Would cer tainly recommend this to others .

Fantastic Trip to Costa Rica - Highly Recommended!
Costa Rica Walks and Wildlife
This is a fantastic trip that combines seeing a lot of what is an amazing country with some good walking and stunning wildlife. Our guide Joe was outstanding and was highly knowledgeable, passionate, professional and good fun. The diversity of places we visited was great, from mountains and volcanos, to palm fringed beaches and coffee plantations. There were some long journeys involved, but all broken up and made interesting. Not much time to chill and every day brought new experiences. Some of the accommodation was simple as described eg one has no hot water where we stayed for 3 nights. Overall, highly recommended for a great adventure. We also did the extension to Tortuguero - another great location with lots of wildlife to see from the waterways, but I wouldn't recommend this part of the trip.

Super memorial vacation!
Costa Rica Walks and Wildlife

This is my first time with KE Travel. I enjoyed all about this trip: well organizing, walking in to nature of tropical forest, seeing exotic wildlife, friendly UK travelers. I'm looking forward to traveling more with KE in the future. Tip: If you do walking or hiking, don't forget bug spray. It's better to wear long pants, long T-shirt. There are a lot of ticks on the trail.

Fantastic introduction to Costa Rica and it's wildlife
Costa Rica Walks and Wildlife
This is an incredibly varied holiday visiting several regions of Costa Rica. This inevitably involves many hours on the bus but the journeys were broken up with meals, coffee stops and brief stops at places of interest (for example the cafe with a bird table and the crocodile stop). We saw over a hundred species (majority being birds) during the 2 weeks including sloths, monkeys, anteater, tapir, coati, toucans, macaws, the resplendent quetzal, turtles). Although none of the walks are long (the longest was 20km and that was longer that scheduled - our guide recognised we were a fit group and offered to extend this particular walk to which all agreed), some of the terrain is not easy e.g. steep forest paths with many roots to step over and some river crossings. Accommodation varied from 3 star hotels to basic though comfortable lodges. Our guide was excellent - enthusiastic, organised, patient and keen to ensure that we really got the best from our holiday.
