Charities and Partnerships

The Juniper Trust is a charity that supports community projects all over the developing world. Its vision is to work in a low-impact, sustainable way to support communities and particularly children. Much of the focus these last few years has been on re-building schools that were destroyed in the earthquake in Nepal in 2015. Also supporting schools and communities in northern Pakistan. KE founder, Glenn Rowley is a trustee, and has been heavily involved since the Trust’s inception in 1994. We are thrilled to continue our support of the Juniper Trust, especially as it does such fantastic work in two of our most important destinations, Nepal and Pakistan.

Mind Over Mountains is an amazing charity, based in the UK and offering professional mental health support by harnessing the healing power of nature. It aims to bring together hill-walking, mindfulness and time with experienced coaches and counsellors in an unhurried, unpressured setting. We are delighted to have formed a long-term partnership with Mind Over Mountains, and look forward to being involved in many of the walks, retreats and fundraising events that they organise throughout the UK.

KE Adventure Travel is a corporate sponsor of The Derek Moore Foundation. The objective of the Foundation is to promote sustainable economic growth and empowerment in socially and economically disadvantaged communities. The focus is very much on small scale projects which make a real difference to local communities. The principle is very much not just giving a man a fish but instead teaching him how to fish. Training is a key part of any DM Foundation project, and KE has been involved in recommending and supporting projects alongside the Foundation throughout the developing world.

Since January 2020 we have been absorbing 100% of all the carbon emissions produced by operating our trips. This includes transport, accommodation, activities and meals as well as all customer flights sold and staff flights. To do this we work with Livelihoods Funds, who support a number of fantastic reforestation, agroforestry and rural energy projects around the world.

We are aiming to completely eradicate the use of single use plastic on all of our trips, and this includes single use plastic water bottles. Where tap water cannot be drunk, we recommend customers taking purification tablets or using a filter bottle. We have partnered with Water-to-Go whose bottles filter out 99.9% of all bacteria, viruses, protozoa and cysts.

We can offer a 12.5% discount to all KE travellers on a branded KE filter water bottle from Water-to-Go. And for every purchase, Water-to-Go will donate a 75cl filter to KE leaders and guides to keep them safe and hydrated whilst they lead our trips.
