Our ‘Leader of the Year’ in 2015, Joe hails from the Golfo Dulce region of SW Costa Rica and since 2014 has led many for KE groups. His feedback from clients has been without fail, outstanding and he was a worthy winner of the annual award.

Dinesh Rai has been leading KE groups since 2017, but has been leading trekking groups in Nepal since 1996. Dinesh is from the Solukhumbu district of Nepal, close to the Everest region, and has led a wide variety of KE treks in Nepal including the Dhaulagiri Circuit, Annapurna Circuit, and Annapurna Sanctuary and Everest Base Camp trek.

Originally from the Solukhumbu region of Nepal, Pasang has worked as trekking leader for over 20 years and has visited Everest Base Camp over 50 times! He studied English in the UK and spent time working in the USA.

Originally from Cumbria, Kathy’s present home is in Chamonix, where she works as an IFMGA mountain guide. Kathy has led trips for KE in various parts of the world and currently organizes our Alpine mountaineering holidays.

Like Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, Uden hails from Darjeeling and is of Nepalese descent. Uden works with KE groups throughout India. He has a fantastic rapport with both his clients and his crew and won the 2014 KE leader of the year award.

Onex is one of our most experienced Tanzania leaders who has summited Kilimanjaro well over 100 times. He is extremely popular with KE clients and for many people he has been the key factor in their successful summit.

Tom has a wealth of experience in the Greater Ranges and has led many successful KE treks. He has climbed Cho Oyu and was leader of the expedition that put 3 KE leaders on the summit of Everest in May 2005.

Bart is originally from the Netherlands and has been leading for KE since 1989. He wrote the Bhutan trekking guidebook for Cicerone when living in Bhutan, and is currently working on a Cicerone Pakistan trekking guidebook. Bart can be found leading for KE in Pakistan and Central Asia.

Clare leads our groups to the Reunion Island about which, her local knowledge of history, flora and fauna is encyclopaedic. She is also a super-experienced, well-respected guide and an extremely fit lady who knows the mountains well.

Johanna is based in the Abisko region of northern Sweden and leads the KE Kungsleden ‘Kings Trail’ Trek in both summer and in winter on skis. She is a qualified mountain leader, ski patroller and a member of the Abisko mountain rescue team. At home when relaxing, Johanna’s hobby is knitting woollen socks!

Odair is from the beautiful Sao Vicente Island in Cape Verde and has led every departure of our bestselling Cape Verde walking holiday since 2018. He’s passionate about the culture and nature of Cape Verde and loves passing on his knowledge to KE travellers.

Cao operates our Tenerife holidays and leads KE groups to the summit of Teide. A fount of knowledge for all things Canarian, trekking with Cao is always a fascinating experience and judging by the feedback we receive, great fun too.

Enekoiz has been leading KE groups on the Canary Island of La Gomera since 2014. He was born on the island and after a period on mainland Spain studying and working, he returned to La Gomera to work as a walking guide. Enekoiz is passionate about sustainable tourism and has a deep knowledge of the history, flora and fauna of the island. Our clients tell us that everyone they meet on the island seems to know him and with him, a warm welcome is assured from all they meet.

Non-stop world-trekker and climber and one of our most experienced leaders, Val organises our operations in Peru’s Huayhuash Mountains. Working with the Juniper Trust, Val has also provided over 600 solar lamps to remote mountain villages.

Jean has been leading our trips into the beautiful White Mountains of Crete since 2004. A Frenchman who describes himself as ‘European’, Jean has lived and worked in his adopted Greek island home for over 30 years.

Juan organises our Bolivia programme and leads many of the trips himself. An accomplished climber and very popular leader, Juan holds the international IFMGA guiding qualification and has written a guidebook on trekking and climbing in Bolivia.

Hiking and nature are Murad’s passions and he has been leading KE trips in Jordan since 2012 when he gained his official tour guides license. Over the years he's led almost all the KE itineraries in Jordan with adult and family groups, but his speciality is the best-selling and classic Dana to Petra trek.

Anas has worked as a KE cycling leader in Jordan since 2011 and has led over 40 KE groups on the classic ‘Dead to Red’ cycling holiday. He has an impressive cycling background having ridden for the Jordanian cycling team internationally from 1998 – 2007 as well as winning numerous cycling races in Jordan.

Over the last decade Jose has led biking, mountaineering and trekking trips for KE throughout the world from Asia to South America. Now settled back in his native Spain, Jose runs KE’s trekking and road biking holidays in the Costa Blanca.

Jon and his wife Violeta host KE groups at their beautiful villa in the Algarve region of Portugal. Jon also guides and instructs the activities on 'Family Adventures in the Algarve' such as surfing, biking and kayaking and leads the walks on our 'Timeless Trails of Portugal's Algarve trip.

Pasang Rinji is originally from the Solu Khumbu region of Nepal and has been leading trekking and mountaineering trips in Nepal for over 10 years, and leading KE groups since 2017 including treks to Everest Basecamp and the challenging Dhaulagiri Circuit.

Based in Funchal, André is a qualified Madeiran mountain leader and has been leading groups in Madeira since 2011. Having started leading for KE in 2024, André is already a firm favourite with our customers, sharing his extensive knowledge of Madeiran history, geography and the levadas with his groups. André is also a keen surfer and photographer, with some of his pictures winning awards.

Natalia Grande is a qualified mountain leader, specialized in southern Patagonia. She lives half of the year in El Calafate, Argentina, and the other half in the Italian Alps where she enjoys climbing and skiing. Natalia has been leading KE treks in Patagonia since 2022, but has led groups in many other countries for more than 10 years.

Luis Govetto, born in Bariloche and settled in El Calafate, has been guiding in Patagonia for more than 20 years and leading KE groups in Patagonia since 2022. As a certified mountain leader, Luis has worked in the most pristine and beautiful national parks in Argentina and Chile, as well as leading expeditions to the Southern and Northern ice-fields.

As an ex-army officer, Nuno qualified as mountain leader in 2001 and has been leading KE groups in Madeira since 2020. His knowledge and passion for the island is second to none, and he is an extremely popular guide with KE clients. Nuno regular leads our “Levada Trails and Peaks of Madeira” trips, as well as our popular “Walking in Madeira” holiday.

Rudy was born in a community just outside of Cusco and is a native Andean, speaking Quechua as his first language, as well as English and Spanish. In 2014, Rudy started working full time as a tour leader and knows all the treks in the Cusco region of Peru inside out. His speciality is the Choquequirao to Machu Picchu trek and has been leading for KE since 2022.

Tolga was born in Ankara and is an active outdoor specialist. As well as being a cultural guide, Tolga is also a mountain specialist with over 30 ascents of Mount Ararat and 25 ascents of Mount Kackar. He has worked as a professional tour guide since 2001, and has lead for KE in Turkey since 2022 including the ‘Lycian Way’, ‘Trek the High Taurus and Cappadocia’ and our ‘Active Family Lycia Coast’ holiday.

Hailing from Guatemala City, Diego always felt the necessity to seek out and experience adventure. Whilst Diego has been a Guatemalan mountain leader since 2015, he has only lead for KE since 2023 and has proven to be a hit with our clients from day one, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and a great sense of humour.
