The best multi-day treks in Turkey

From hiking the Lycian Way to the reaching the summit of Mount Ararat, explore further into Turkey on our multi day walking journeys that takes you off the typical tourist trail.

Walk the West, East or both sections of the stunningly beautiful Lycian Way on our self-guided or guided multi day trekking holidays. The whole trail runs some 500km along Turkey’s turquoise Mediterranean coastline and winds its way through Roman, Persian, Greek, Byzantine and Lycian ruins.

On our Lycian Way holidays you’ll be walking approximately 12km each day and you’ll have plenty of time to explore those historical sites, stop for lunch at a quaint café and enjoy a dip in the sea at one of the many pristine beaches you’ll pass by. Hotel accommodation, luggage transfers and breakfasts are all included and our Lycian Way walking holidays continuously receive 5 star reviews.

Our Trek the High Taurus Mountains and Cappadocia holiday combines an 8-day trek in the Taurus Mountains of Turkey with relaxed walks in Cappadocia. For the majority of the multi day trek you will follow well established trails between valleys and villages and there will be a couple of days with a good deal of ascent and descent. We publish the distance and elevation day by day in the itinerary section of the tour page.

The maximum altitude you’ll reach is whilst climbing Mount Emler (3,723 metres), a truly off the beaten track mountain. We run this holiday between June and September to minimise the risk of snow, such as on the Yedigoller Plateau. Towards the end of the holiday you’ll visit Cappadocia for two days where you can enjoy easy walking and some relaxed sightseeing around this fabulous natural wonder.

Summit Mount Ararat

Did you know you can summit a 5000+ metre peak in Europe, 200m higher than Mount Blanc!? On this multi-day trekking adventure you will explore the wild Anatolian landscape and summit of one of the world's most incredible snow-capped volcanoes; Mount Ararat (5,165m) where you’ll enjoy far-reaching views to the famous peaks of Elbrus, Kazbek and Demavand.

The ascent of Mount Ararat is not technical, but a high level of fitness is required and it would help if you had some experience walking in crampons. We’ve planned in an acclimatisation hike of Mt Artos (3537m) before the 4 days on Mount Ararat including summit day of around 10 hours with a 2:30am alpine start. It is the perfect trip for peak baggers and those looking for a truly unique challenge.

A week’s walking in Cappadocia

Walking an average of around 12km each day and staying in charming 3 and 4 star hotels, you’ll spend 6 days exploring the fascinating area of Cappadocia including Pigeon Valley, White Valley, Sword Valley, Love Valley, Rose Valley, Goreme and its unmissable Open Air Museum and the lesser-visited Zemi Valley.

You will also hike the Ihlara Gorge, following the course of the Melendiz River from Selime to Ihlara where you’ll discover Byzantine cave churches and their painted frescoes. The cherry on the cake of this Turkish holiday is exploring the astonishing underground city of Derinkuyu and staying in one of the stone-carved hotels famed in the region. Breakfast and luggage transfers are included throughout!
