Walk the Camino in a Special Jubilee Year

2027 marks the next Camino Holy Year (Año Xacobeo): a rare event on the Camino de Santiago that only happens when St James Day (25th July) falls on a Sunday. Taking place just 14 times each century, a Holy Year is one of the most significant times to walk the pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela Cathedral.

For pilgrims, the Camino Holy Year 2027 offers a unique opportunity to experience centuries-old traditions. During this special year, the cathedral’s famous Holy Door (Porta Santa) is opened, allowing pilgrims to enter through a sacred entrance that is only accessible during a Jacobean Year. Many walkers also choose to arrive in Santiago de Compostela in July to coincide with the celebrations for the Feast of St James.

2027 is expected to attract higher numbers of pilgrims than usual, so early booking is strongly recommended.
