Meet the Sales Team Behind Your Next Adventure

Booking an adventure is about so much more than choosing a destination. It's about finding the journey that's right for you and that's exactly what our team are here to help with. Passionate about travel and the outdoors themselves, they know just how much an adventure can mean, whether it's ticking off a lifelong dream, exploring somewhere completely new or simply spending more time in nature.

From your very first enquiry to the finer details of your booking, every adventure is looked after with genuine care, enthusiasm and expertise. We caught up with the team to learn a little more about the people behind the emails and phone calls, asking them about their favourite travel memories, dream adventures and the destinations they can't stop recommending.

So, before you plan your next trip, why not get to know the friendly faces who are only ever a phone call or email away?

Meet Tom

Hi, I'm Tom and I'm part of the sales team here at KE Adventure Travel. I look after our incredible family adventures and African holidays, so there's always plenty of opportunity for daydreaming about where to go next! When I'm not at work, you'll usually find me exploring the Scottish hills or hiking the fells of the Lake District, either of which make pretty good training grounds if Kilimanjaro has been on your bucket list...

What's one thing you never travel without?

A Kindle. It used to be books, but I've now embraced modernity when faced with a weight limit.

If someone was booking their very first KE adventure, which trip would you recommend?

My first KE holiday was our Mount Toubkal in Winter trek. Morocco is an incredible bang-for-your-buck destination that feels so different despite being only a short-haul flight away. I don't think you could go too far wrong with standing on top of North Africa. (P.S. You can also do it in summer!)

Meet Sarah

Hi, I'm Sarah! I'm an Adventure Travel Consultant here at KE. I look after our self-guided holidays and our polar expeditions - two completely different travel styles, but both as incredible as each other. Outside of the office, you'll find me enjoying the fresh air, either walking or running the local trails with my little boy and dog. If you're looking to book an adventure to the polar regions or one of our self-guided holidays, I'm more than happy to share my experiences of both.

What's the first thing you do when you arrive somewhere new?

Stretch my legs after the journey, explore my surroundings and have a coffee or a beer (depending on the time of day!) while enjoying a spot of people-watching.

Which KE trip do you think is our best-kept secret?

KE has a few best-kept secret trips! For me, it has to be our Self-Guided West Lycian Way holiday. Quiet trails and amazing views greet you every day, along with warm hospitality at the end of each walk. The flexibility of a self-guided holiday is always a winner for me!

Meet Lesley

Hi, my name is Lesley and I'm the Flights Manager here at KE Adventure Travel. I look after all things flight-related, from negotiating contracts and deals with our airline partners to researching new routes and airlines for the adventures our product team creates. I moved from London to the North East during the pandemic and now spend my free time exploring the Cleveland Hills, North York Moors and Pennines with my two miniature dachshunds, Hilton and Hudson and my husband, Mark. If you'd like a flight quote for your next KE adventure, just drop me a line and I'll be happy to help.

After visiting 80 countries, what's the one place you think everyone should experience at least once?

For me, it has to be the Faroe Islands. The scenery is stunning, the hiking is fantastic and the sustainable food is excellent. It's calm, peaceful and the perfect place to decompress... although I probably shouldn't say that because I'd quite like it to stay a hidden gem!

What's one travel moment you'll never forget?

Staying at the Everest View Hotel and taking a helicopter up to Kala Patthar, where my now husband, Mark, proposed to me. Afterwards, we flew over the Khumbu Icefall - it was an unforgettable day and a memory I'll treasure forever.

Meet Jayne

Hey! I'm Jayne and I'm part of the sales team here at KE. I specialise in self-guided tours, covering much of Europe as well as some incredible long-haul destinations in South-East Asia. Over the years, I've ticked off many dream holiday destinations, including Costa Rica, Ethiopia and Jordan. Australia and New Zealand are both still very much on my bucket list... watch this space!

What's your favourite way to spend a free day outdoors?

As a Cumbrian lass, I love nothing better than ticking off a Wainwright with my terrier in tow.

Which walking destination do you find yourself recommending time and time again?

Nepal! It's unbeatable, in my opinion. Watching the sunrise from Poon Hill in the Annapurna region will be forever etched in my memory.

Meet David

Hi, I'm David and I'm part of the sales team here at KE. I look after most of our trips to Western Europe and South-East Asia. My favourite destinations to discuss with customers are Spain and the Alps, two places I've lived in or travelled through several times. Outside of work, I'm a keen linguist (it always comes in handy when travelling!) as well as a road and fell runner. I'm usually office-based too, so if you'd like to chat about trips to Europe or further afield, feel free to drop in and see us in Keswick!

What's been your most challenging adventure?

Running the Tour du Mont Blanc over 10 days - an absolute epic with lots and lots of climbing!

What adventure have you got your eyes on next?

The GR20, the GR11 (Transpirenaica) or the Picos de Europa Traverse.

Meet Vanessa

Hi, I'm Vanessa and I'm part of the CSS team. I predominantly advise on our guided walking trips to Nepal, Pakistan, Bhutan and India, as well as all of our guided cycling holidays. So, if there's a bike involved, chances are I'll be able to help! I'm a Cumbrian through and through, local to KE's birthplace. Activity-wise, I'm happy doing anything from road cycling, running and swimming to gym sessions and walking - as long as I get my daily fix!

What's the most memorable moment you've had while travelling?

Camping opposite a live volcano in Guatemala on a milestone birthday. Incredible.

Which KE destination completely exceeded your expectations?

This is a tough question! If I had to pick just one, I'd go with Southern Africa and cycling from Victoria Falls to Cape Town. The scenery, the wildlife, the game drives, the camping locations, my fellow travellers and, of course, the cycling made it an unforgettable adventure.

Meet Daisy

Hi, I'm Daisy, one of the sales support team here at KE. I look after all your post-booking arrangements to help make your adventure as seamless as possible. When I'm not in the office, you'll usually find me out walking my sausage dog or planning my next holiday as I try to tick off as many places as possible.

What's the best sunrise or sunset you've ever experienced?

The best sunset I've experienced so far was on the island of Lipari during our Walking the Islands and Volcanoes of Sicily trip. That said, there's no place like home. Growing up in the Eden Valley, I've been lucky enough to enjoy some pretty spectacular skies there too.

If you could jump on a KE trip tomorrow, where would you go?

Anything Antarctica! It's an absolute bucket-list destination for me. I'd choose the Antarctica - Multi-Active Expedition for the perfect mix of incredible wildlife encounters and unforgettable activities.

Meet Alice

Hi, I'm Alice! I've recently started looking after our adventures in South America, Central Asia and the Balkans. While I'm still getting to know some of these incredible destinations, I was lucky enough to spend time travelling through the Balkans and had an amazing holiday in Brazil. Based in Keswick, I love a good local hike, but I'm always looking to venture further afield and try new outdoor sports, whether that's skiing, snowboarding, kitesurfing or anything else that gets the adrenaline going!

Van life has taken you to some amazing places. Which off-the-beaten-track destination has captured your heart?

I'd have to say the Balkans. Bosnia & Herzegovina, in particular, still feels relatively undiscovered but is absolutely beautiful and culturally fascinating. I'm not usually much of a city person, but Sarajevo completely won me over. The coastline around Kotor in Montenegro is also unbelievably beautiful and will always have a huge soft spot in my heart, even if it's becoming a little less off the beaten track - which is completely understandable!

Which KE trip is still at the very top of your own bucket list?

Travelling to Patagonia would be an absolute dream! The sheer variety of landscapes looks incredible and it's somewhere I've always wanted to explore. Around Manaslu Trek is also right up there, as I'm desperate to hike in Nepal and love the look of this slightly more off-the-beaten-track adventure.
