Take your first steps on a group adventure...

Everyone has to start somewhere when joining a guided group as a solo traveller, and it’s completely natural to feel a little nervous before your first adventure. Whether it’s your first time travelling this way or you’re already a seasoned solo traveller, shorter-haul destinations can be a great way to ease into a trip and this style of travel. After all, you don’t have to fly to the other side of the world to create unforgettable memories.

Walking Wild Tuscany is the perfect introduction to guided walking holidays. Beyond the rolling hills of Chianti lies the lesser-known region of Garfagnana, where high alpine trails and charming mountain villages create a truly authentic Tuscan experience. For the week, you’ll stay at a beautifully renovated organic farm villa, complete with a swimming pool and surrounded by acres of vineyards, woodland and colourful meadows. Evenings naturally bring everyone together for delicious homemade dinners made using fresh ingredients from the gardens. Due to being based in this stunning Tuscan villa, it’s ideal if you’d like the freedom to opt in or out of a day’s hike, which are on the right side of challenging.

La Gomera, known as “The Walker’s Island,” is a dream destination for first-time solo travellers joining a small group walking holiday. The island is a labyrinth of trails winding through cloud forests, timeless villages and colourful flora, with dramatic coastal views and volcanic landscapes. On our bestselling La Gomera – Jewel of the Canaries holiday, you’ll hike up into Garajonay National Park, explore the valleys of Rey and Loros and take in the sweeping viewpoint of Roque El Cano. A highlight is walking a section of the GR131 long-distance trail, connecting the island’s most scenic paths. Comfortable accommodation serves as your base, and there’s plenty of time to soak up the local culture in San Sebastian and timeless villages.

Go to the world's most remote areas...

When travelling solo, some of the world’s most incredible places can feel hard to reach on your own. At KE, we take travellers to extraordinary destinations – from hidden corners of the world to remarkable places and experiences that are often difficult to access independently. Taking this into account, it's little surprise that so many solo travellers choose our adventures, knowing they’ll see the world with support from a guided group and like-minded travellers.

The Traverse of Bolivia's Cordillera Real adventure is one of South America’s most spectacular high-altitude treks. Set within the dramatic Cordillera Real mountain range, the route traverses through a landscape of high peaks, remote valleys and high mountain passes – some of which are above 5,000m. This is a truly wild and remote adventure, linking picturesque lakes, snow-capped Andean peaks and rarely visited Quechua villages.

Mountains and Lakes of Kyrgyzstan offers an unforgettable adventure into one of Central Asia’s most remote and culturally rich landscapes. On this adventure, you’ll discover authentic nomadic culture and off-grid trekking without any logistical barriers. You’ll share intimate meals with Kazakh family in Tokmok, sleep alongside local Kyrgyz people in traditional yurts and trek the spectacular Tian Shan Mountains to reach Ala-Jul Lake, Kyrgyzstan’s most awe-inspiring lake. With expert guidance and a supportive group, it opens the door to a remarkable and relatively undiscovered destination that would be challenging to experience independently.

Some adventures are simply too special to wait for. Whether it’s a long-held dream or a challenge you’ve always wanted to take on, solo travel means you can make it happen on your own timeline - no need to wait for others to share your sense of adventure! On these bucket list adventures, you won’t be alone - you’ll be travelling with a group of like-minded KE travellers who are there for the very same reason: to turn a lifelong bucket list idea into reality.

One of Europe’s most iconic treks, the Tour du Mont Blanc circles the Mont Blanc massif, crossing through France, Italy and Switzerland. It’s a true bucket list adventure, with some of the most spectacular Alpine scenery in the world. Our Best of the Tour du Mont Blanc adventure captures the very best stages of the route and unmissable highlights of the trail, such as crossing several major mountain passes and trekking to the iconic Lac Blanc - all alongside a supportive group of like-minded travellers, all there to have the same unforgettable experience.

The Inca Trail, the famous ancient paved pathway of the Incas, is undeniably one of the world’s greatest hikes, winding through cloud forest, high mountain passes and remarkable archaeological sites. Starting near the Urubamba River, the trail climbs to the high mountain scenery of the Warmi Wanusca Pass (4,200m). From here, the trail continues through breathtaking Andean landscapes towards the unforgettable moment you arrive at the Sun Gate, your first view of Machu Picchu.

Travelling with KE means experiencing the trail with expert guides who know how to find the quieter moments along this famous route. Supported by a dedicated team of porters and chefs, who take care of the logistics and prepare delicious meals along the way, you can focus on the adventure itself - making this iconic trek an unforgettable way to tick a true bucket list experience from your list.

Experience a once-in-a-lifetime adventure...

Some experiences are just too rare and remarkable to experience alone or as a matter of fact, to miss entirely for fear of travelling without a companion. Travelling solo doesn’t mean missing out on these memories - with expert guides and a small group, you can visit incredible destinations, share unforgettable experiences and create memories that last a lifetime - often with new friends made along the way too!

Costa Rica is one of Central America’s true gems, where tropical rainforest, volcanic landscapes and untouched beaches create a beautiful backdrop for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It’s a destination that stays with you long after you leave - something that even many of the KE team can attest to. From spotting a sloth in the wild to discovering waterfalls hidden deep within the rainforest and a visit to Corcovado National Park, home to an incredible concentration of biodiversity, our Costa Rica Walks and Wildlife adventure is truly unforgettable.

The Game Trails of Zimbabwe & Botswana Camping Safari is the ultimate safari for witnessing Africa’s iconic Big Five in their natural habitat. Journeying from South Africa’s Kruger National Park through Zimbabwe to the thundering Victoria Falls, and on to the wildlife-rich landscapes of Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta in Botswana, this adventure takes you deep into the heart of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife habitats. Along the way, you’ll hopefully encounter not only lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo, but vast herds of zebra and wildebeest, giraffes, hippos basking in the waterways and an incredible diversity of bird life. If you're looking to do a once-in-a-lifetime safari to see the Big Five, this is the adventure for you.

Take on a bold challenge, as a solo traveller...

Some adventures are too demanding, or too great, to tackle alone. These are the adventures where a guide and a skilled, supportive group make all the difference, helping you push your limits safely while making the experience unforgettable. Whether you’ve set your sights on a long-held goal or a personal milestone, these adventures are a challenge to rise to, surrounded by KE travellers who are there to push themselves alongside you.

Tackling the GR20 is not just a trek, its Europe’s toughest long distance trail. On the GR20 Corsica - The Complete Route, you have the opportunity to challenge yourself to walk the complete route, north to south from Calenzana to Conca. Over the course of two weeks, you’ll cover a total of 180km of the granite backbone of the island, with approximately 12,000m altitude ascent and descent. Every day presents a different challenge, whether it be hiking forested slopes, high pasture and alpine valleys or scrambling ridges and outcrops. Complete the route, and you’ll return home not only having completed one of Europe’s toughest treks, but carrying the lasting sense of achievement that comes from taking on a bold challenge.
