Your Favourite Adventures in June

At KE Adventure Travel, we don't just create adventures - we live and breathe them. From the mountains we trek in our free time to the destinations we return to year after year, a passion for the outdoors runs through everything we do. That's why one of the most rewarding parts of our job is hearing from travellers when they return home.

Whether it's the sense of achievement from reaching a long-awaited summit, a memorable encounter with local culture or simply a week spent immersed in spectacular landscapes, we love hearing what made your adventure truly special.

June marks the start of the summer season - trails opening across the Alps, long days perfect for high altitude adventures and a whole new wave of experiences getting underway across the globe. As we read through the reviews and stories shared with us this month, there were a handful of trips that stood out as clear favourites. So, counting down from five to one, here are the trips our travellers couldn't stop talking about in June...

5. Volcanoes of Indonesia

Summit five major volcanoes and watch the sun rise over the turquoise waters of Rinjani's crater lake. With a visit to Borobudur, the world's largest Buddhist temple, woven in along the way, this is Indonesia at its most spectacular.

Extremely satisfied

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Fourth KE trip in recent years and, as always, very well looked after by the guides and porters, great places to stay and great food - often prepared on trek.

4. Galapagos Islands Adventure

Island hop across four islands in the Galápagos, swimming beside sea turtles, watching blue-footed boobies strut along the shoreline and kayaking through mangroves in search of marine iguanas. One of the world's great wildlife experiences and unlike anything else on earth.

Amazing trip to the Galapagos! Incredible giant tortoises and sea turtles!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

An adventure of a lifetime - well organised and executed, amazing scenery, beautiful wildlife particularly the giant tortoises, iguanas, seals, and sea turtles, and an incredible guide Dario, who was great company, very knowledgeable, and the best!

Amazing Adventure

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A wonderful experience to view wildlife in a unique close up way. There are plenty of opportunities to see Galapagos wildlife in its natural habitat and spend time observing it.

3. High Pastures of the Picos

Experience the limestone pinnacles of the Picos de Europa - verdant valleys, wildflower meadows and crystal rivers at every turn, with a highlight being the path carved into the rock face of the 1,500m deep Cares Gorge, one of Spain's most extraordinary walks.

The Picos de Europa amazes yet again!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A wonderful weeks energetic walking in the Picos de Europa with splendid views and excellent food and accommodation.

Glorious 'Green Spain', ... and I will return.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The most geologically rugged and dramatic landscape I've seen outside of the Andes. Wonderfully varied, verdant and colourful flora that carpets everything to and above the tree line. And wildlife that ranges from wagtails, florescent lizards and snake eagles, to wild horses, wolf dogs and 747-sized griffin vultures! The soundtrack plays a cacophony of birdsong on mountain passes, to babbling brooks in the valleys and forests. Sold on it yet?! Varied trails - and mostly very quiet, too. 5 to 8 hour days, excellent 'Med' food, good guesthouses ... run by the proud people of the Picos = "Green Spain" as they call it. KE delivered exactly to order. BUT everyone agreed ... this is an honest level 6 trip (NOT a 5); no place for sandals or occasional weekend walkers. I'm going back to do the more challenging traverse, with huts & summits. Knackered now ... Loved it.

2. Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

Trek the ancient Inca Trail away from the crowds, camping in remote spots beneath the Cordillera Vilcabamba before emerging through the Sun Gate to your first view of Machu Picchu - one of the most earned arrivals in adventure travel.

Amazing trek through history with beautiful scenery in the mountains!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu trek was an amazing experience. KE Adventure was wonderful to work with in planning the trip. Transfers were easy, and the guides were excellent. All in all, a fantastic, memorable experience.

Trip of a lifetime

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I can't even begin to describe how amazing our Inca Trail trip was. I cried when it was over like a child at a party who doesn't want to leave! I want to do it all again. Life will feel a bit boring for a while. David, our guide, was absolutely brilliant. He taught us about everything from the history, geology, culture, astrology, politics and economics of Peru. Will, the second guide was also incredible. The food was the best we'd had in Peru! The rest of the porter team were great and made everything easy. Thank you and your team, and thank you for being so friendly and helpful with all my questions over the weeks leading up to the trip. I really appreciated it.

1. Walking Slovenia's Lakes and Mountains

Based at Lake Bled - with its emerald water and island church and the Julian Alps on every side - set out each day on walks through Triglav National Park to cascading waterfalls, flower meadows and shepherd pastures unchanged for centuries. Spend one night in a mountain hut before hiking the magnificent Seven Lakes Valley. This is Slovenia's best, all in one week!

Slovenia has it all

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hotel Astoria is well located, just a few minutes walk down to Lake Bled. My room was clean and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The breakfast selection was exceptional. Transfers and logistics were efficient. Maša, our guide, is a lovely person and she did a great job managing a group with mixed levels of fitness. The hikes were well planned and adjusted to counter the exceptionally hot weather. We walked a mix of shaded forest trails and steeper sections above the tree line which offered stunning views across the national park. Most hikes were fairly demanding. One night was spent in a comfortable mountain refuge overlooking Lake Bohinj.

This was my first time travelling with KE and I'm very happy with all aspects of the trip.

Beautiful alpine flower meadows

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This trek was one of the best I have done with KE. I am especially interested in alpine flora and forests and this along with stunning views of the mountains far exceeded my expectations. I left with a deep sense of peace from days spent in the mountains and gratitude for the warm kindness of the Slovenian people. Shall always treasure the memories! THANK YOU to KE and our wonderful guides - Masa and Hana.

Excellent hiking experience with great guides

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Slovenia is one beautiful country. The trip combines an excellent hotel (including a terrific spa) with hiking in the beautiful Julian Alps. Bled is a great choice for the one week stay as it's a picturesque setting with plenty of good restaurants. Our hikes, curated and led by the wonderful Masa and Hana, were rife with fabulous views. The drives to the trailheads were never overly long. I've gone on 5 or 6 hikes with KE and have never been disappointed. They are a first class outfit. I'm very glad to have added this trip to my collection.
