Weekend Warrior - KE Traveller Profile

"The KE weekends offer the perfect blend of hard work and reward for those who love the mountains but are short on time.”

KE Traveller Paul Taylor from Bournemouth is the first person to travel on 5 of our Weekend Adventure holidays! We caught up with him to ask what it was about these 4 day itineraries which hit the spot, his top tips for future travellers and his stand out moments from these unique trips.

What is it about a 4 day itinerary which you like best?

The KE weekends offer the perfect blend of hard work and reward for those who love the mountains but are short on time. All the destinations are reachable using reasonable flights so for those short on time it is a great way to get into the bigger peaks without breaking the bank. The food has always been superb and the guides exceptional.

Do you have a favourite moment from one of the holidays?

From the weekend trips, the scrambling on Rysy and Marble ridge were fantastic experiences.

Why do you book with KE Adventure Travel?

I've been on several KE trips now to the Himalayas, Kilimanjaro and more recently the adventure weekends. Every trip has superbly organised

and new destinations are being added every year. The mix between the challenge and the way the trips integrate you into the local culture, food and way of life is what I look for.

Would you consider taking a longer holiday?

I would love to go back to the Himalayas, especially Bhutan and Pakistan, once time allows.

Which destination would you like to travel to for a short adventure break?

Too many to choose from....... I'd opt for somewhere in the Balkans or Norway. If there was a week long version, Elbrus in Russia would be great.

Which has been your favourite short break?

Purely for the extreme change in environment and culture from the UK, it has to be Toubkal. Marrakech feels like a world away, a complete assault on the senses. All the weekends have their highlights: the scrambling on Rysy, Marble Ridge in Bulgaria and the sunrise on volcanic Teide but Toubkal was fantastic (and the highest).

You completed the Toubkal Weekend twice, why was this?

I went for a 'significant' birthday and talked about it so much when I got back a great friend of mine wanted to do the same trip for his big day and invited me along! A group of us are looking at doing it again next year as well.

Top tips for future weekend travellers:

Firstly, always call KE if you are unsure if the trip is for you. They are very knowledgeable and you can always speak to someone who has travelled to the area. Secondly, book it.

Thank you to Paul for sending in his photographs and sharing his experiences with us.

Did you know that it was from Paul's suggestion on his feedback form after that we put together our new Triglav Weekend trip! We really do read any appreicate the feedback and reviews we receive from all KE travellers.
