Overview

This one-week holiday offers a wonderful introduction to southern Norway, combining scenic day walks, fjord landscapes and time to explore the historic cities of Bergen and Oslo. Travelling by local ferries and trains – including the famous Flam Railway and the spectacular Bergen–Oslo line – we experience some of Norway’s most dramatic and varied scenery. Our walks follow well-marked trails and include panoramic viewpoints above the Sognefjord and the rewarding summit of Sjebergsnuten (1166m).

Between walks, we enjoy the freedom and simplicity of travelling through Norway as the locals do, with comfortable journeys linking fjords, mountains and valleys. Evenings in Bergen and Oslo offer time to sample Nordic cuisine and soak up the vibrant city atmosphere, while in the fjords and highlands we stay in peaceful, family-run accommodation on a full-board basis. With its mix of walking, exploration and memorable travel experiences, this is an ideal adventure for anyone wanting to discover the best of southern Norway in one week.
