A fantastic holiday providing a perfect mix of sightseeing and trekking
Temples and Trails of Burma
We could not have asked for more from a holiday - just loved every minute in Burma. Our outstanding guide Ko Kyaw Kyaw ("Jo-Jo") was absolutely top notch, immensely knowledgeable about the history of Burma, its culture and traditions, and was charming and polite, tirelessly answering in excellent English the barrage of questions we had for him. Nothing was too much trouble. The holiday was a well-balanced mix of sightseeing combined with some gentle trekking in the rolling Southern Sh an State hills, away from the tourist trail where we were able to engage with the delightful local population and witness their traditional way of life. The support crew made sure all our kit was ready and waiting for us at the end of the day, so all you need is a very light day sac. Water and tea houses are all available en route, and if you can't manage the walking there is the option of taking a ride on a tuk-tuk with the gear.

This is a country that is on the cusp of big changes and modernisation, so now is definitely the time to sample its traditional ways of life. KE arranged a personally-tailored 4-day extension with another first class guide (Min Aye Than) from the same company as Jo-Jo, and with an excellent driver in Thaw Zin we covered a lot of ground that many outsiders rarely see. Excellent internal flights and transfers to our comfortable hotels went like clockwork, with all arrangements fully covered by Jo-Jo and his colleagues.

absolutely fantastic walking holiday.
Northern Lights Snowshoe Safari
What an excellent experience. From being collected at the airport until the bus journey to return we were looked after 100% by out guides. They took care to ensure everyone was comfortable and the walking pace suited. Those wanting more were advised where to go to be safe. The views and terrain where all we could hope for with plenty of information to make it all real. The guides had great experience to share and added in local history and information about the Sami's way of life. And we go t to see the Northern Lights which was a bonus. Would recommend this experience to anyone.

Great trip to Arctic Sweden
Northern Lights Snowshoe Safari
I really enjoyed the trip and it mostly lived up to expectations. The two guides were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The scenery was very impressive. I have a couple of critisisms. Firstly the two of us in my party booked onto the dog mushing trip through KE but this information was not sent on correctly to the admin people at the Abisko Lodge so we were not able to do this trip at the end - very dissappointing. Secondly I think it was a long way to go to only get one full day and two nigh ts up at the arctic cabins. Another day would have been better. A number of people in the group agreed with me about this. The walks from the cabins were rather short. Only 5.5 Km on first day.

KE Adventure reply

We are glad you've had a great trip and thank you for the fantastic photos. We are looking into why the additional activity you booked was not as expected and we will be contacting you directly about this.

Exceptional New Zealand
Walking New Zealand - North to South Island Explorer
I always knew that going to New Zealand would be a wonderful and thoroughly enjoyable experience, but it turned out to be so much more than I could have hoped to expect. I've done more challenging treks, I've been to magical places elsewhere, but I've never done a trip that was so varied in terms of landscape, so informative in terms of learning about the history, geography, culture, flora, fauna of a nation, and so filled with exciting discoveries - both about this exceptional co untry and about myself. Simply one of the greatest experiences of my life. My flight back is already booked!

Wonderful exhilarating experience
Northern Lights Snowshoe Safari
From start to finish we were well looked after and catered for by 2 excellent guides. Sara in particular went out of her way to accommodate everyone's needs. Walking in the snow on the mountains was amazing, so vast and expansive, wild and wonderful. Even with temperatures hovering around -15* we were warm and cosy in our lodgings. Even enjoyed chopping logs to keep the fires going. And to top it off the Aurora gave us an amazing view and followed us across a frozen lake. Looking forward to another experience with KE as you are among the best of the best.

Fantastic experience
Marrakech and The Bougmez Valley
My first experience with KE and all excellent - great organisation, fantastic guide (Hassan), great food and logistics all managed with aplomb. We had a lot of snow on our first night in the valley so walks had to be amended to suit the conditions. Hassan did a fantastic job in ensuring we got out for walks each day. He was also very informative about the area and the life of the Berbers in the valley. The gite in the mountains was lovely and the staff there were so kind and welcoming. The hammam was an experience!

Great Ski tour of the Schwartzwald.
Highlights of the Black Forest Ski Traverse

A very good XC skiing holiday with excellent food, accommodation and organisation.
Booking an extra day at the front of the trip gave more time to see some of the area
and get oriented and rested after the journey out.

An amazing experience
Wellbeing Women - Kilimanjaro Climb

The most amazing trip - physically and mentally challenging. It wouldn't have been possible without the fabulous staff, from our guides, cooks, camp staff and porters. I would recommend this trip for anyone looking for a challenge and a trip to remember.

Outstanding winter climb of Mt Toubkal
Mount Toubkal in Winter

Thanks for a fabulous 8 day trip to climb Mt Toubkal and Ras. The whole trip went smoothly and our local guides were fantastic. The weather and the other people on my trip contributed to one of the best holidays I've had!

Excellent highlights of a fascinating country
Sri Lanka Explorer
It was the first time I had been on this type of touring holiday in a group as I usually prefer to travel independently. It worked out very well and I was able to see much more than I would have done on my own in 2 weeks. The local tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful, particularly at the historical sites. There was quite a lot of traveling in a minibus and you do live out of a suitcase to a large extent but it is worth it to cover such a lot of ground in a short time. The UNESCO herita ge sites are amazing and the safari in the Yala National Park was excellent but overcrowded. It would have been good to spend more time exploring the tea plantations but on a busy highlights tour there wasn't time. I would recommend the trip to anyone who hasn't visited Sri Lanka before and wants to sample the highlights.

A fantastic African adventure
Kilimanjaro and Safari
Kilimanjaro Trek is excellent and extremely well organised. Definitely take altitude sickness tablets, walking poles, pack your clothes in dry bags inside the kit bag and use a camelback for drinking water. The guides are very knowledgeable and duty of care is at the forefront of their minds. Food is prepared in camp by the cook and his kitchen porters - it is tasty and carb heavy but you need it. The views and are breathtaking, my camera did not do them justice but sometimes it's better to just immerse yourself in your surroundings. Safari was amazing, especially Tarangire and the luxury tents. You are unlikely to see anything better than on a David Attenborough doc, but to be there to experience the noises, smells and all the small things you don't see on TV is definitely worth the investment. Ngorongoro crater is a natural wonder but it did feel more like a "managed" reserve with all the animals enclosed in the crater. Nevertheless, we saw everything apart from the elusive leopard. I strongly encourage you to book Kili and safari!! After completing safari at Lake Manyara we went to Zanzibar on the extension. We booked 4 nights but 3 would have been enough, especially if you are not planning to splash out $40-90 pp for each tourist activity. We went on a walking tour of Stone Town but organised it through the company that transferred us between the airport and resort, which was cheaper. The resort (Shooting Star) was about an hour from the main town (Stone Town) and was the perfect place to unwind, but also felt a bit isolated and there was nowhere to explore on foot locally. The owner of the resort was around for a couple of days and seemed amicable at first but did cause offence and made inappropriate comments to female guests. I was pleased when he left! We did return to the UK with upset stomachs too, just to make you aware. Despite these unfortunate events, the staff at the resort were very good and made us feel welcome.

Tough but fantastic trekking adventure
Kilimanjaro Rongai Route
We had a great time on the Rongai Route. The KE local agents were fantastic. Our leader, guides and porters were friendly, hard working and very knowledgeable about the local area and the mountain. We were very well looked after throughout our stay. I would say though that you need to do some decent preparation to get fit to climb Kili. Much of the trip is straightforward but the final ascent is very challenging so if you're going to do this, do read up on what to expect so you can make the most of it. Overall an amazing trip.

A fabulous week, including a magical day in the Winter wonderland of Feldberg
Highlights of the Black Forest Ski Traverse
Snow conditions were good above 1000m. That meant we could not ski lower sections of the Fern-Ski-Wanderweg. However, Julia (our trip leader) showed great resourcefulness in adjusting the programme to enable us to have a full day of skiing every day on prepared trails in excellent snow. Great fun exploring different sections of the Wanderweg and supporting loipe - every day was different. Enjoyed staying in a variety of Schwarzwald hotels and sampling the local food and drink. Great trip, super leader and fun group. Would go again.

Fantastic trip to Lapland
Sweden Arctic Family Adventure
We had a great time in the North of Sweden and loved all the activities. There is no KE guide so we did feel a little at sea at first but everything ran pretty smoothly. Highlights were the huskies and the snow mobiling. We spent a whole day with our snow mobile guide Goran driving out into the wilds, seeing moose and snow mobiling on a frozen lake before going back to his house for refreshments. The accommodation is very warm and cosy and the meals were delicious. Finally we need to mention the spa which was an ideal way to relax after a day in the snow.

Well planned, organised and excellent walks. Appropriately described by KE.
Secret Sierras of the Costa Blanca
Picked up at airport and taken to trek start as planned. Walks well described by leader. He was appropriately interactive and attentive at all times, keen to share knowledge of area. Account taken of weather before setting out each day. Enjoyable yet quite demanding walks at times will some gorgeous views. Loose scree on steep paths at times meant taking additional care. I didn't use my sticks but I know some of the group found theirs helpful. The accommodation in the three locations varied . For me they each had their own charm. I would happily stay at any one of them again. This was my first KE holiday and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Therefore I would not hesitate to book another.

Excellent trek
Ethiopia, Simien Mountains Trek & Lalibela
A very well organized trekking and sightseeing holiday. Our guide Philemon was outstanding, ensuring everything went to plan and always had a ready smile. The local trekking guide Dereje was also excellent pointing out many birds and animals along the way as well as good photo spots, We were able to walk amongst the baboons which was a real highlight. The trekking was along good trails and included an ascent of Ras Dashen which involved a 3am wake up call for a 3.30 start after a very welcome br eakfast of tea and porridge. It was a long but enjoyable day with all those who started reaching the summit. Gondar and Lalibela provided good sightseeing and photo opportunities and the hotels used were very comfortable. Our top tip would be to be prepared for a very dusty enviroment. Our one negative is that the tents used needed replacing as most had broken or faulty zips.

A great way to experience the mountains in winter
Snowshoe Stelvio - The Italian Alps
Heading into the hills with the only sound that of the group crunching through the snow was a wonderful way to experience this really beautiful area. The combination of walks through the forests and then out onto higher ground worked really well and the routes were very well judged, moderately hard work without being too tough for beginners. I had a brilliant week and would highly recommend the trip. Hints; If you fly by Easyjet, get the bus from Milan airport terminal 2 - it takes ages to get t o the train station at terminal 1. Be prepared for a long day getting to and from Sant' Antonio. It's an interesting train/bus trip but long. The hotel is good but basic, eg bring your own hairdryer.

Remote and tranquil trek
Mount Mgoun Winter Ascent
Very unusual weather meant there was no snow so we didn't have the trek we expected! However, we did have a great trek in glorious sunshine. Mgoun is much more remote than Toubkal and very quiet, we were the only trekking group around. The Gites and huts were a very good standard. Food was excellent and we were well cared for. Hassan kept us informed and entertained with a wealth of information on Berber culture. Also thanks to Charlie who kept everything on track in a friendly and relaxed style.

History and Culture brought to life
Camino Cubano
We had great trip with KE Adventure Holiday. The tour guide, Richard was very good although still learning the ropes of being a tour guide and he had to deal with various problems over the fortnight. He was always courteous and dealt with challenging things with a smile. Our driver Nelson was excellent and we felt very safe considering the various types of traffic encountered and the very uneven road surfaces. Our itinerary was changed a little from that set out initially. Cuba is a rapidly chan ging country and the explosion of tourism coupled with the inexperience of a country new to this made hotel accommodation bookings and maintaining the itinerary very difficult for the rep on the ground, but in no way did it detract from the whole experience. The combination of trekking in remote parts of the country along with city tours captured both the old and the new of Cuba, we learnt a lot about the culture and history of the country. We felt safe in all aspects of our travel although we were warned by our guide on the odd occasion to stick together when walking around certain Cities. However, we never experienced anything out of the ordinary and all the people we met were very pleasant and helpful. We were a group of seven, two men and five women and whilst our experience (we were a couple, the others were all single) was very good, the same could not be said for others in our group. Problems with flights and rooms, opposite sexes having to share a room did spoil some of the others experience. All but one dealt with this in an adult and calm manner realising it was not a fault of the guide and given the amount of tourists in Cuba at the time it would have been very difficult to meet everybody's expectations. Generally our accommodation was satisfactory and the additional tour guides provided by Sprachkaffee were very good and all spoke good English. Our trip up Pico Torquino was hard to say the least and it needs to be emphasised that it is not for the rambler and is definitely a two day trek with lots of ups and downs making the overall ascent a lot more than 2000 metres. This was not helped by the very muddy conditions underfoot where we all had a fall at sometime on the trek. Overall the holiday was an enriching experience and we would recommend it to anyone who asked.

An excellent intro to snowshoeing
Snowshoe Stelvio - The Italian Alps
The Stelvio Alps area is utterly lovely, with lots of well marked trails to explore each day. When we arrived in early February it was unseasonably warm and wet, but luck was with is and it snowed overnight and again after that. Thus, we had plenty of snow to march across! For me, the highlight of the trip was the hike to view the Forni glacier ... Hints: 1. Take the bus from the airport to Milan. Less stress than the train. 2. The snowshoes are easy enough to get used to, but people did suffer from blisters. Bring Compeeds, or alternative blister plasters. For toes and heels. 3. Layers are very important. It can be hot work going uphill, so you need to ditch them. But you'll need them later! One morning it was minus 12 when we set off ... 4. Bring something waterproof to sit on for the gobbling of your packed lunch.
