A wonderful weeks walking holiday
La Gomera - Jewel of the Canaries - Private Bone
Great weeks walking. The diverse landscape was amazing, sub tropical Laurel forests one minute and then dry arid areas the next, mountains and beaches. The hotels are of a good standard and all ( except one) had a restaurant, this was not an issue as there are many places to eat and drink. The weather was good only rained one day and that was the day we were in the forest so we were going to get wet anyway. It can get very warm and humid whilst you are walking. The views on the last day were abs olutely stunning from the top of the island. Our guide was brilliant, he varied the route slightly from the itinerary to show us places of interest that we would otherwise of missed. The tour of and lunch in the vineyard (not on the itinary) was great. Would recommend this trip, just make sure you are fit. This is an island with very little flat areas so most of the walking is either up or down hill.

Great hikes
Walking the Albanian Alps

Albania is wonderful. It was like hiking in the Tetons and Yosemite with no one around. The group was large at 15 with only one guide. I think another guide was needed. The hikes were tough. The rating should be a 6 at least. I think the routing on the first day should be rearranged to something else. Good food but no snacks available. The lodging was basic and with 15 people a little small for that big of a group. Albania is a great destination and I would like to go back and hike other trails.

KE Adventure reply

We are pleased you enjoyed your holiday. We agree with you that Albania offers wonderful hiking in genuine wild mountain country. It is a relatively new destination for adventure travel and as such, the choice of accommodation in the mountains is still limited. Most of our groups enjoy their stay with local families and we hope the big hotels do not move in here anytime soon.

Bosnia is a must see
I loved this trip. The food was amazing. The accomodations were fine. The hikes were great. I do think this trip should be rated at least a 6. The exposure is great. If anyone is afraid of exposure this is not the trip for them. The climb of Mt Maglic was 9 plus hours. Some fifth class climbing and very steep with a very steep down that took over 5 hours. The guide Benjamin was terrific. Very upbeat, organized. Always had tons of snacks and very helpful in the difficult parts. Lots of history in Bosnia and there was no one on the trails. A great trip.

Incredible fun, but lucky with the weather!
Chamonix Alpine Mountaineering Week
I had a brilliant time on the course. I'm an experienced climber so the first day of learning was quite easy for me but I still learnt a couple of new techniques.
Glacier travel and small amounts of ice climbing was wonderful, such a beautiful environment!
The next couple of days had very poor weather and although the guides tried their best to keep us occupied we did learn some skills, one of the days was spent entirely at the chalet and only half the day was spent learning
rope skills.
The weather was too poor to allow us to ascend to a mountain hut to stay the night in, but thankfully it cleared a bit for the final day, allowing us to go up and climb the stunning cosmique arete. It was an incredibly exhilarating day. Though I can't help but think if the weather had been too bad for us to climb on the final day, I would have left feeling quite disappointed.

Best trek I have ever done.
Cordillera Huayhuash Circuit
This was a simply amazing trip. I have wanted to do the Huayhuash trek for a long time and it lived up to every expectation I had. The mountain scenery is unparalleled - every pass (12 in total) we crossed opened up new stunning vistas and great views of the Huayhuash peaks. Val and the crew were excellent at helping the whole group on what wasn't an easy trek physically and the altitude whilst tough made the achievement all the greater! I'd recommend this to anyone who is a confident hill walker and used to extended time under canvas.

Ismet Inan rocks as a leader
Trek the High Taurus Mountains and Cappadocia

This trip is challenging. And Ismet Inan is a skilled compassionate leader/guide who got us through tough weather and great hikes. Fourteen people did the trip. Seeing and experiencing everything on the description and more. All logistics were flawless. This was my first trip with KE and if all your guides are like this I want more.

Trekking to Toubkal
One Week Mount Toubkal Trek
The whole trip was well organised and planned out. Our tour guide Hassan, was incredible. He was thoughtful, decisive, considerate, knowledgeable and a lovely person. Great food, good accommodation, scenery was spectacular. Be prepared for scree everywhere! Lucky to have fantastic weather, with stunning walks through local villages and towns. This is an excellent walk to undertake. The meal chosen by the guide at the end of the walk in Marrakesh was by far one of the best meals I have ever eaten ...just wow! The only disappointment was the 3 hr guided city tour in Marrakesh, undertaken by another guide. Trudging around in 35 degree heat from street to street while he talked endlessly was slightly soul destroying, exhausting and totally boring. He was agitated whenever we asked questions and tried to cut the tour short by the second hour. A let down, as the rest of the entire trip was first class.

KE Adventure reply

Thank you for your feedback and we are very pleased to hear you had a fantastic time in Morocco, which is a favourite destination for KE office staff too. We are extremely proud of our local leaders. Hassan has been successfully leading KE groups for 4 years and is an extremely popular leader. Unfortunately, our own guides are not allowed to conduct tours of Marrakech as these must be taken by guides appointed by the city authority but having said this, most of our clients do enjoy this aspect of the holiday, especially the sights, sounds and delicious aromas of the souk.

stunning scenery and excellent organisation
One Week Mount Toubkal Trek
I came on this trip in May when two of the passes were blocked with snow and we followed a revised itinerary. I enjoyed it so much I came back to undertake the full itinerary and it was even better. The gorges and Lac d'Ifni were stunning and the views from the cols and Toubkal summit were exceptional. The days were fairly strenuous (about the equivalent of climbing Ben Nevis each day) but were all the more satisfying for that. Each day was continuously interesting. For anyone fit enough fo r the Lake District or Scotland the challenge of this trek and Toubkal's 4,167 metre summit is a must.

excellent
Chomolhari Basecamp and the Bonte La

Thimpu festival.... excellent
Head uncovered was a problem with sun danger. Noted that locals were able to cover with woven
cloth wrap that is part of national dress. Would buy and take one next time.

Trek ... top quality tent , food , kit and guide. Mules in first class condition and calm.
Local company partner superb.

Excellent National Parks introduction tour
Yellowstone and the Wild West
This trip was exactly as we expected. We had an excellent introduction to some of the American National Parks. There was a lot of driving which was made more comfortable as there were only 4 people on the trip in a van made for 12. The walking was correspondingly not very demanding but after reading the itinerary was as expected. The camping was excellent in Yellowstone but noisy at Grand Canyon. The night at Monument Valley was not our cup of tea but maybe loved by others! The hotel accommodati on was fine. The guide was very friendly and informative, a very good cook and did everything to make our trip memorable. She could, however, have been a wee bit fitter. All in all an excellent trip and a very good overview of the National Parks.

Every day was absolutely AMAZING!
Chomolhari Basecamp and the Bonte La

This has been the best holiday I have ever had! Festival was fantastic, trek was really fantastic with stunning views everyday. The guide was very knowledgeable and shared the love of his country with us, many stories and made sure we were well looked after. All of the trekking staff were full of smiles and absolutely spoiled al of us.

A good combination of trekking and sightseeing in a fantastic part of the world!
Mountains and Marvels of Central Asia
This trip comprises of two parts, a week trekking in the northern Fann Mountains of Tajikistan and a week sightseeing in the cities of Uzbekistan. I choose this trip over the Ultimate Fann Mountains (UFT) primarily because I wanted to see more of Uzbekistan, although I would also have liked to do a longer trek in Tajikistan! The scenery on trek in Tajikistan was spectacular. My highlights included the views from the top of the Chapdara and Kulikalon Passes and our campsites at Alaudin and Kulik alon Lakes (Days 3-5). Each night we camped by a river or lake and so there were ample opportunities for washing, even if the water was rather refreshing! I would recommend taking a good supply of cereal bars or similar, as extra food supplies to have on trek. The people of Tajikistan are incredibly hospitable, although the country is very poor and facilities can be basic. In Uzbekistan we visited the cities of Khiva, Bukhara and Samarkand. Due to the timing of our flights (Tashkent to Urgench on Day 8, and Tashkent to Istanbul on Day 15) we only had very limited time in Tashkent. If you would like to see more of this city then I would recommend booking a day or two extra at the end of the trip. We stayed in the same hotel in Tashkent on Day 7 and Day 14 (for a few hours!) and so we were able to leave much of our trekking gear in Tashkent. My highlights in Uzbekistan included Khiva and Bukhara, and I was glad to have chosen the trip which took in these additional cities as I enjoyed them more than Samarkand (which does have some very impressive sites, but has more of a ‘big city’ feel). Good pre-departure information from KE and quick to respond to queries. Looking forward to booking my next KE adventure!
