How does it work with rooming family members together?

Generally, children under the age of 11yrs share with their parents, relatives or guardians. This can range from a triple for a family of 3, to a double with extra beds or two separate rooms for families of 4. Smaller families, or single parents with 1 child, as a group of 2 will be in a twin room. If you are travelling with children over the age of 12yrs, you could be sharing a triple room or staying in two separate rooms. Some hotels have interconnecting rooms although we can’t guarantee this. Please do not hesitate to contact the office to discuss your requirements or preferences.

Who can book on a family adventure holiday and can the grandparents come along?

At KE we only have one “rule” to qualify for a family adventure holiday and that is one member of the booking party is 18yrs or under and they are accompanied by an adult. And, of course the grandparents can come, the more the merrier.

I am a single parent, what should I know?

We have many single parents who come along on these holidays. They are ideal holidays, as the children make friends and as a single parent you also have ‘grown up’ chat, and time to unwind, maybe with a glass of wine. As standard, you will be roomed with your child or children. Depending on the number and ages of children you are travelling with, you’re likely to be in a twin, triple or family room altogether. Single rooms are available on limited departures for an additional cost. Please do request your rooming requirements on booking and we will do our best to ensure these are met.

Can the children or I opt out of activities?

Yes, it is your holiday after all! However a parent / guardian must always be responsible for a child. So if a child opts out then a parent / guardian must stay with them, and if a parent opts out then another parent / guardian must be present with the child during the activity.

How much does a family adventure holiday cost?

The cost of a family adventure holiday varies depending on the destination, trip length and activities included, but our family adventures typically start from around £700–£1,000 per person. On each individual trip page you can see exactly what’s included before you book.From affordable family adventure breaks in Europe and Morocco, to bigger adventures further afield, there are options to suit different budgets and interests.

What is included in a KE Adventure family adventure holiday?

Depending on the trip, your holiday will include accommodation, meals as described in your meal plan, activities as described in your itinerary (from guided walks to cooking classes to mud fighting experiences), local transport as described in your itinerary and the services of an experienced local leader. There is also the option to book a flight-inclusive adventure for most trips so everything is taken care of for you. All the the specific inclusions of each adventure are clearly listed on each trip page.

Are family activity and adventure holidays suitable for teenagers?

Absolutely. Our family activity and adventure holidays are designed for children and teenagers typically aged 6–15, with age limits varying by trip. There are plenty of opportunities for older children and teenagers to get stuck into the adventure, from kayaking, cycling and canyoning to trekking, wildlife experiences and other multi-activity adventures.Self-guided family adventures can also be a great option for families with teenagers, giving you more freedom to choose your own pace and activities each day. With a wide range of walking, cycling and active adventures to choose from, you can find a trip that suits your family’s interests and gives teenagers plenty of opportunities to get involved.

Yes, there is a minimum age for a KE family adventure holiday, and it depends on the holiday to what it is. We take into account a wide range of factors but mainly the included activities. The majority are suitable for families with children between 8 - 15yrs, but only certain trips we accept children as young as 4yrs. If you’re struggling to find a suitable active holiday for your family or have younger children, please contact us and we can discuss which itinerary will work for you. Private groups are also an option which can work well.
