Busy and varied exploration of north west India, done by bike
Cycling Tour of Rajasthan
Fabulous fabulous adventure in Rajasthan, north west India. We took a 13 hour overnight train from Delhi southwest to Udaipur, and then travelled back through the countryside by bike ending up in Agra on New Year’s Eve. The first 2 days were mountains and lakes (1200m - "decidedly undulating" is right) followed by flatter arable backwaters, stopping off at 4 UNESCO heritage sites, forts, palaces and temples, and 2 animal sanctuaries. Urban bits were done by bus transfer which supported us all ... the way. And we saw a tiger!!
The group was only small (5 people) but we got on fabulously and our guide Nishant was amazingly brilliant. Thoroughly recommend. It's an exploratory adventure done by bike, rather than "just" a cycling holiday.

Beautiful Jordan by Foot!
Jordan's Dana to Petra Trek

Wonderful trek with my family and new friends from Dana to Petra. What a wonderful way to see and experience such a beautiful country and people. It is a bit challenging and it is legit camping, but I'd encourage anyone interested to book this trip and get ready for a genuine adventure!

Great introduction to El Salvador
El Salvador Volcano Trek
We had an amazing Christmas holiday in El Salvador.

This trip was trekking volcanoes and a mountain with culture and history thrown in. All were day or afternoon walks. I would be honest and say that 4 volcanoes were dramatic hikes with good summit crater views while the other 3 were gentler walks. All were good treks. Chinchontepec had a fascinating display of steam vents at its base with a 5 hour tiring ascent through dense forest. There is a military base at the summit and if it’s
... cloudy, the view is limited.
Chaparrastique was listed as being the toughest volcano to trek but we found it less tough than Chinchontepec and shorter too. On Chaparrastique there is scrambling/climbing and plenty of loose scree on this particular volcano but for anyone accustomed to hiking in the Lake District this was doable. Views were amazing. The scree surfing down from the crater to a lower level was new to me and once we got the hang of it, it was safe and great fun. Not to mention a much quicker way to descend from the crater to the upper middle slopes. Raul did warn us about the scree as an earlier group struggled with it.
The dormant volcano Gauzapa was more of an informative walk rather than a volcano trek as you don’t really see a summit. We learnt about the civil war and how guerillas hid in the caves on the slopes of Guazapa.
The hot springs, visit to a coffee factory, a boat trip in Fonseca Bay and a couple of beach days at the end rounded off the trip nicely.

Raul ensured we had packed lunches and water when we needed. He took us or pointed us towards great places for coffee or eating out. We went to the supermarket to buy drink and nibbles and he helpfully got ice and a box for post trek beers.

All of the accommodation was very comfortable including the glamping fixed camp.

Raul was very informative and also well travelled. He had lots of information to share with us about his country, the infrastructure and its history. El Salvador has had a turbulent history and despite that the people are warm and welcoming.

This was our first trip with KE and we don’t think it will be our last.

Memorable adventure in the snow!
Sweden Arctic Family Adventure
What an incredible snowy adventure!! We loved all the amazing activities on offer... the incredible ice hotel, feeding reindeer, zooming along on a snow mobile to go ice fishing, snow shoeing, watching the northern lights and a special favourite were the husky dogs. Camp Ripan is such a comfortable hotel with delicious food and friendly staff. We were disappointed to not be with the same group for the holiday... instead being with different groups of people for the activities and sometimes ... without other children. Also meal times would have been more fun with a group that you got to know over the time. Having said that, we have come home with endless memories and experiences that will stay with us always. Thank you for an awesome holiday.

Amazing mountain scenery!
Everest the Hard Way Trek

Excellent trek to Everest Base Camp (the Hard Way) with great support from our Sherpas and Porters. Hard work with the altitude but well worth it for the amazing scenery.

A fantastic trek with stunning scenery throughout
Annapurna Circuit and Annapurna Sanctuary
This trek combing the Annapurna Circuit and Sanctuary kept on giving. We saw stunning mountain scenery from the first day trekking and throughout. Everything was well-organised and it was great that all food was provided. The accommodation was comfortable and at lower altitudes had communal spaces with a fire, however at higher altitudes sometimes many layers and thick jackets were needed. We saw monkeys on a couple of days, we dipped in hot pools, visited a monastery, saw several stunning ... lakes with amazing reflections and many birds of prey. We were well acclimatized for the altitude trekking over the Thorong La and it was incredible to see the sunrise as we climbed. Most of the many layers of clothing from the cold early morning start were shed as we descended in the sunshine. After the altitude of the pass, trekking to the Sanctuary seemed much easier and we were rewarded with another stunning sunrise. I think the trek is graded well and would definitely recommend the combined circuit and sanctuary as the two parts are different and it would be difficult to choose between them. Overall, an amazing experience.

Wonderful Walking on Captivating Cape Verde
Walking Holiday on the Captivating Cape Verde Islands

Cape Verde is a walkers paradise with its combination of volcanic scenery and lush vegetation. Lots of steep up and even steeper down with not much flat in between but the amazing panoramas just keep coming. This holiday delivers!

An Amazing Trek Start to Finish
Around Manaslu Trek

What an experience! I've done many treks but The Manaslu Circuit takes the top spot. The scenery is breathtaking and constantly changing. It was hard at times but we had a great supportive team who paced us well. The best day for me was on the first "rest day" when with good weather we did a 5 mile walk to the Ping Gyen Gompa at the foot of Manaslu. We were 3 of a group of 16 for the trek. But what a great bunch of people the others turned out to be. I hope our paths will cross again.

A Spectacular Trip
Guatemala's Magnificent Seven
A great trekking trip. Nice to have a mix of hotels and camping. The walking is quite challenging with regular 1200m up/down at altitude and quite a lot of early starts. The sunrises were amazing as the weather was usually clear at that time of day. A good itinerary covering quite a distance with some of the other volcanoes to be climbed always in view. Nice to have a rest day of Lake Atitlan with a lot of different options. Jerry the guide and his team were so friendly and efficient making ... sure everything was well organised for us.

Trip of a lifetime
The Galapagos Islands Southern Cruise

An amazing holiday from being met at the airport by someone with all of our documentation and then led every step of the way through the daily itineraries.
The wildlife was stunning and keeping 2m away was sometimes difficult as the animals ruled the paths!! The snorkelling was great with a big variety of fish and wildlife. The guides were very good and knowledgeable and always happy to answer questions. The food on board was excellent especially bearing in mind the size of the kitchen.

Best of Northern India

A holiday of a lifetime. We combined a fantastic trek in the Himalayas, seeing Everest and the Northern India golden Triangle. The Taj Mahal is something else when you see it in person. Lots of unforgettable memories made.

Stunning Full On Immersive Journey
Ultimate Overland - Coast to Coast Southern Africa
This was an incredible experience traversing the Southern African continent from coast to coast. Perhaps even more memorable than the stunning animal/bird encounters was the opportunity to take part in what was essentially an epic trip of discovery on many levels. Each day brought new highlights (although the Zimbabwean roads unfortunately could not in any circumstances be described as a highlight!) The success of the trip depended to a huge extent on the quality of our 2 guides and they were ... both amongst the best I have encountered in many KE trips. Not only did they drive nearly 6000 kilometres and provide superb food for various dietary requirements, they were an amazing source of information on all wildlife and history and went out of their way to ensure we had the best experience possible. This was all done with good humour in sometimes challenging circumstances. The memory of Max’s laugh will cheer me up for a long time to come. It is worth noting that there are some very long drives on some dreadful roads and the drive times were often considerably more than indicated. Also the camping (a real highlight) involved a considerable amount of participation by everyone. Perhaps the trip grade was slightly misleading in these respects? What to bear in mind is that this is a 'Pioneer' trip with all that entails, and approached in this manner an unforgettable life-enhancing opportunity will be the reward.
