A wonderful holiday in a beautiful country.
Temples and Tea Trails of Sri Lanka
What can be said about Sri Lanka, than just simply wow? Firstly our guide Gayan was the loveliest man I've ever met, passionate about his country, his culture, hard working (we never waited for our transport and he always had two or three options for extra activities) and we particularly enjoyed his wild stories of ancient Sri Lanka! So the highlights? That's a long list, the cultural triangle of Stupas, carved Buddhas, the breathtaking Lion Rock, seeing a leopard on Safari and topping it off ... with the Dambulla Cave Temples which were astonishing and the Arts and Crafts and cultural capital which is Kandy. Then up into the jungle for a few nights, tropical fruits and spices all with the background noise of monkeys, birds and frogs - the Eco Lodge was a highlight as was the superb cooking demonstration in a traditional kitchen. After that a bit of a downer with a less than satisfactory climb of Adam's Peak in the dark, honestly this should be dropped from the itinerary but we were compensated with a superb High Tea afterwards in the stunning Grand Hotel. Then onto Horton Plains and the beautiful walk to Worlds End, Tea Plantation factory visit and a walk through Tea Country topped off with probably the most stunning Train trip in the world and Elephants galore at another Safari.

Cannot recommend this trip highly enough, Sri Lanka is a very chill, very beautiful country full of wonderful sights, experiences and people. 5 stars.

Timeless Trails of Portugal's Algarve
Timeless Trails of Portugal's Algarve
Our week with Jonathan, Violeta, Isabella and Dylan, organised by KE Adventure, was the best holiday we’ve ever spent. The setting was idyllic, the accommodation lovely and the warmth of the company – both family and other guests – something to treasure.
We devoured every scrap of Violeta’s amazing food, ranging from fresh fruit platters, hot rolls, warm croissants, pastel de nata and pikelets, cold meats and cheeses, and hot dishes in the mornings, generously filled rolls for lunch,
... and extraordinary evening spreads with homegrown vegetables and salads, lovely meat and fish dishes and delicious puddings. Only the fabulous tapas, that went along with an impromptu wine tasting laid on by Jonathan, were so plentiful they eventually defeated us.
We spent five days walking amid spectacular coastal scenery, four of them in glorious sunshine, led by Jonathan or Isabella (sometimes accompanied by Alana the dog) and driven to and from by Jonathan and Dylan. On our free day we explored the nearby historic town of Lagos.
It was in so many ways a holiday that delivered more than was promised. We walked along perfect beaches, swam in the sea and in a neighbouring lake, went body boarding twice (taught and looked after by Jonathan and Dylan), did daily stretch or yoga classes led by Isabella and a local yoga teacher, enjoyed professional massages by Isabella, scoffed afternoon beers and ice-creams in cafes, and ate out at a couple of excellent restaurants.
If you’re thinking of visiting Portugal’s beautiful Algarve and enjoy walking, there’s no better way to do it.

Scandinavian Beauty
Walk West Sweden - Island Hopping
KE prepared an interesting itinerary and our trip was enjoyable. Highlights included warm sunny weather allowing sea swimming, comfortable hotels with excellent breakfast and good locations near public transport. The Västtrafik app was essential as per KE instructions - it provides accurate timetables and cheaper, hassle-free ticket buying. Public transport runs on time.
Minor issues: there was miscommunication about spa reservations (despite being advised of booked times) and a picnic was
... prepared a day early. Talking to reception upon arrival helped sort these.
One criticism: KE trip notes weren't fully accurate. Day 5 in Smögen offered a trip to Bohus island or a Kungshamn-Tullboden hike. Bohus island visits are only possible July-August; September's single ferry had a 2-hour limit, making the 10km walk impossible. The second hike lacked route notes and was unsupported (apparently forgotten in trip notes). We improvised and we completed this hike anyway. It was a good circular hike, the trail was well marked.
Knowing island visit limitations beforehand might've led us to travel in August instead of September. Smögen's small so we managed well with our own hike plan.

A nicely varied trip
Mount Ararat - Turkey's Sacred Summit

A nicely varied trip, with cultural and relaxation opportunities as well as climbing the mountain. The summit day is a big day, but otherwise the exercise is manageable. Ibrahim was outstanding. He was a mine of information on cultural and historical matters, a very likeable man with an excellent sense of humour, and was always attentive to the needs of the group.

Efficiently organised
High Tatras Trekking - The Carpathian Mountains

KE and Jakub made it very easy to explore the High Tatras with an interesting itinerary that would be difficult for an independent solo traveller to organise. Plenty of good food and more comfortable accommodation than expected.

Brilliant trip
Traverse of the Jotunheimen

Brilliant trip hiking through a variety of stunning scenery (everything from glacier and boulder fields through to grassy valleys and forests), all of it led by our excellent guide Richard. Two tips: 1) make the effort to climb Kyrkja, the views are fantastic, and 2) the drying rooms at the huts were very good so take some washing powder for hand washing clothes.

Stunning mountains - unforgettable times
Self-Guided Tour du Mont Blanc
I have truly loved my self guided Tour du Mont Blanc - the mountain views are unforgettable and cannot be captured in photographs. The view is constantly changing and I loved the new display every time you reached a Col or mountain pass.
The effort is not to be taken lightly and I think a grade 7 is about right. I would challenge the time estimates though - a suggested 5 hours turned out to be more like 7-8 with coffees and breaks. One thing which I would specifically mention is how good the
... KE App was. Not only did it contain all of the required information - hotels, dates, guide notes etc. but the real value was the interactive map which made navigation an absolute doddle. It also showed you on the height profile graph how much more climbing or decending you needed to do, which I appreciated.
With only one exception, the hotels were lovely - generally ski hotels with lots of local character and hearty breakfasts, and the baggage transfer worked flawlessly.
I would heartily recommend this holiday, it was not always easy - but the views and variety more than made up for hard work!

We can't wait for the next trip!
One Week Mount Toubkal Trek
My son and I had a great time in Morocco, and we really enjoyed the trek. The guide was fantastic, the scenery beautiful, and the food amazing, what's not to recommend! Clear communication prior to the trip so that we knew what to prepare etc. We found our guide easily as soon as we stepped out of the airport and the transfer was comfortable. The food was delicious, freshly prepared, full of flavour and healthy. We couldn't believe how great the meals were when made whilst out on the trek. The ... trip had the right balance of some longer days trekking along with some easier, shorter days. [Guide] Younes was great, we really appreciated him on the trip and I was really pleased with how supportive he was towards my son who hadn't been at altitude or to Morocco before. It appears KE has a strong ethos towards supporting local workers eg the muleteers. The sites where we camped were always left without litter, and there was a good emphasis on avoiding the use of single use plastics/water bottles. Thank you KE, my son and I had a great time and made some special memories, we can't wait for the next trip!

Absolutely spectacular
Fjords and Fjells of the Lofoten Islands
The Lofoten are an amazing hiking destination, our treks were brilliant (with just the right amount of difficulty to make them interesting but not forbidding) and our guide was great. Once you add the stunningly good weather (luckily for us!), it made for a perfect trip. Very high marks to Laura (our guide) for cooking for us delicious and varied meals throughout! Participating in the food preparation was an added bonus. Laura was great throughout; she guided our hikes with competence, always ... had all the logistics under control and on top of it proved to be a very accomplished cook! Really great job by her.

Worth Every Penny. What a fabulous experience for us and the kids!
Sri Lanka Family Island Explorer
If you are unsure about booking this trip - please book now!

We just got back just over a day ago, and we are all still buzzing from the holiday of a lifetime!

The itinerary was very well judged in terms of content for the kids -

Highlights include: Riding bikes through an ancient city, tuk-tuk rides through the streets of Kandy, temples, white water rafting, village walk, cooking lessons, wildlife safaris, beaches, swimming pools and especially cricket with the locals!

The food
... was amazing - no upset tummies, very few mozzies, great weather, great accommodation, friendly people and a tour leader with encyclopaedic knowledge of the country, the culture, the flora and fauna.

What are you waiting for - this is an incredible value trip of a life time...

Why I climbed the Roof of Africa
Kilimanjaro Rongai Route

In 2024, I traveled to Nepal with KE Adventure to run the highest marathon in the world at the base of Mount Everest : the Everest Marathon. That experience left a deep impression on me — not just the mountains, but the calm confidence and depth of knowledge of the guides. It was clear they weren’t just guiding trips; they were supporting dreams. So when it came time to take the next step in my mountaineering journey — to summit Kilimanjaro — there was no question in my mind who
... I’d go with.

My long-term goal is to summit Denali in Alaska in 2027. In preparation, I’ve been steadily building experience at extreme altitude: from the Pikes Peak Marathon (4,302 meters), to the Tenzing-Hillary Everest Marathon in 2024 (from 5,500m to 3,300m), to now having summited Mount Kilimanjaro (5,865M). I needed this experience to learn how to summit quickly at extreme elevation — a grueling mental and physical challenge. But not only did I complete my next training goal, but I came away with a magical experience to propel me forward towards my next goal.

Seven days of trekking the Rongai Route brought us from the lush African rainforest at Simba Camp, where colobus monkeys leapt through the trees above us, to the wide-open expanse of the Shira Plateau, where the sky seemed impossibly vast and the clouds drifted beneath our feet. We crossed stark alpine deserts, camped beneath the jagged silhouette of Mawenzi Peak — Kilimanjaro’s beautiful sister — and observed the magic of the alpine desert as we climbed toward the Roof of Africa. On August 22nd at 6:04 in the morning, I summited Mount Kilimanjaro.

Each day offered something new: the shifting ecosystems, the changing temperatures, the surreal feeling of gaining elevation faster than your body thinks it should. But it wasn’t just the scenery that made the trek unforgettable. It was the people — the quiet kindness of the porters who cheered us into camp each afternoon; the playful banter and songs echoing along the trail; the care and professionalism of the guides who knew exactly when to push and when to let us rest.

What I didn’t expect was how close we would all become — not just as a trekking group, but with the entire Tanzanian team. There was warmth in every greeting, laughter shared over every meal, and an overwhelming sense of shared purpose that tied us all together. Whether we were watching the sunset turn the sky pink over Kikelewa Camp, sipping soup after a long hike, or catching our breath on the final push to the summit, we were never alone. We were part of something much bigger than ourselves.

Onex Mwitore – The Steady Hand at the Helm
From day one, Onex Mwitore, our lead guide, was calm, kind, and in total command of the route. His leadership was the reason all seven of us reached the summit. He checked in constantly — on our pace, our spirits, and our health — while also teaching us how to acclimate, how to move, how to think at altitude. He carried the weight of responsibility with ease and never let us forget why we were there. His guidance was quiet but strong, a steady heartbeat beneath the trek. Because of Onex, all 7 of us summited Kilimanjaro.

Josef – The Storyteller and Friend
Josef brought humor and heart to every day on the trail. Whether trekking alongside us or joining us for meals, he shared stories and laughter that helped us relax and settle into the rhythm of the mountain. He made the trek feel lighter, while still giving us the steady guidance needed to move through the physical challenges. Friendly, engaging, and always quick with a joke — he made sure the beauty of the landscape was matched by joy in the journey.

Richard – The Soul of the Mountain
From day one, Richard’s smile was constant — and so was his presence. I connected with him most deeply. As we walked, we shared stories about our lives, our families, our goals. He had an incredible gift: making you feel truly seen and respected, while also gently encouraging you to push further, to believe in yourself. I had the privilege of summiting with Richard, pole pole, all the way to the top. As the first light of sunrise lit the snow and rock in a blaze of orange, he snapped our photo — and I found myself fighting back tears. It was a moment I’ll never forget.

Saleem – The Chef Who Fed Our Bodies and Spirits
Then there was Saleem — our chef, and in many ways, the heartbeat of our trek. His food was nourishing, restorative, and always exactly what we needed after a hard day at altitude. His soups, in particular, were like medicine — warming you from the inside and bringing fresh life to tired legs. Saleem always came by the meal tent with a smile, checking in to see if we enjoyed the food, laughing with us on the trail, and somehow always having a hot meal ready when we arrived at camp.

And just when we thought the trek was over, he surprised us one last time. At the Marangu Gate, we assumed the porters and kitchen crew had all gone home. But when we arrived at a small roadside restaurant for our final meal, there was Saleem — behind the counter, grilling fresh chicken, cooking potatoes, preparing fruit. One last act of care from a man who had already given us so much.

This trip to Kilimanjaro was more than a trek. It was a lesson in humility, perseverance, and the power of community in the wild. I came to train for a summit in Alaska — but I left with something more lasting: a deeper sense of what it means to climb, and who you’re really climbing with. My next step, to stand 6,960m in Argentina atop the mighty Aconcagua. Kilimanjaro has brought this dream to within my grasp, and I could not be more excited for 2026.

Thank you, KE Adventure. And thank you to the incredible team in Tanzania — especially Onex, Josef, Richard, and Saleem. You gave me more than just a summit. You gave me a story of magic and wonder as I walk among giants.
